🌍 Beyond Paramecium, our study sheds light on how DNA polymerases evolve new functions. This helps us understand both the flexibility and limits of DNA repair machineries across life.

⚡ Key finding: PolX enzymes in Paramecium are specialized & diversified. They show striking trade-offs between accuracy and adaptation to unusual DNA substrates, reflecting evolutionary fine-tuning.
