Happy anniversary!

just now getting to watch Our Flag Means Death! No surprise I love it since I loved everything Taika Waititi & Rhys Darby did before it.
finally caught up on The Pitt. No spoilers, but there is a karaoke scene in the finale exactly like when a friend & I screamed/sang karaoke after my divorce. Even the same song.

the same people don't understand why I don't "just write a book" instead of working a day job as an accountant :/
& I'm not even a tax accountant. But it was it was tax day & I was closest human option they could find to correct Chatgpt's bad advice.
people: AI will replace you accountants!
also people: Can you redo my tax return? I think my AI did it wrong
if your search history doesn't look like it belongs to a serial killer/mad scientist, are you even a poet?
One of my favorite poetry collections by a fellow WV poet...
The Irish journal actually pays their writers, so the poem about being happy w/out my ex paid for me to book the beach vacation we always took together for a girls trip this summer. Living (& writing) well really is the best revenge.
the painting "Gas" by Edward Hopper
Very happy to have another poem in @thedodgemag.bsky.social for their Spring issue:

suuuuuuuuuper excited to be a featured poet in the latest issue of @thedodgemag.bsky.social! Check out my new poems! thedodgemag.com/spring-2026-...

I always forget submitting work to journals means you get rejections. All those years I didn't submit, I was blissfully rejection free!
I know it was most likely a typo for sending, but an editor's otherwise positive rejection said "Thank you for ending." As a former lit reader, I've certainly felt that way about submissions before!
You had me at Death!!
another beautiful Saturday, another funeral
That was my favorite part of London, too 😂
Looking down a grassy hill toward a fringe of trees with a 3200 foot mountain looming a mile or so away and a bright blue sky with streaky clouds overhead.
Home (through the trees).
bonfire & deep, intelligent discussions w/ family & friends til midnight last night did wonders for my mental health. more grateful for my people here than ever.
I'm also still on Mastodon, but that wasn't as funny for the meme
if Bluesky goes down, you'll find me in the only social media that matters (the local Piggly Wiggly parking lot).
loved The Testament of Ann Lee, which is on Hulu now. Darkly beautiful & strange. Worth watching for the choreography alone.
no spoilers, but impressed Paradise kept its momentum through the end of s2. My only complaint is too many new characters meant less screen time for Sterling K Brown this season. I hope they trim the cast down for s3 to focus on him again.
please stop posting screenshots from the bad place. or at least put X in the post so the mute feature here works. we left the trash over there for a reason.
the combo of "write what you know" & "write the book you want to see in the world" is the best way to find/develope your own writing voice
at a bar w/ friends & apparently all my fellow Appalachians here are my age. We all sang along every word to Garth Brooks' "Friends in Low Places" & Warren G's "Regulate." It was awesome.
I'm not mad at the editor, they were always kind to me. I'm mad at the poetry journal community in general for refusing to let go of Meta & X. Your follower counts there aren't even accurate now. A lot of people left w/out unfollowing people or deleting their accounts. The rest are bots.
a journal that published my work suddenly shut down w/out notice. The editor emailed me after to say it was due to harassment on other social media sites...but not on Bsky. Why the hell do lit journals insist on staying on other, toxic social media. Especially when it means sacrificing the journal.
I insulted the AI slop resume a relative had me rewrite & reformat.
Relative: Well, I *wrote* it. The AI just interviewed me & told me what to write. *sniff*
Me: Ok well, for one thing that's taking dictation, not writing. Also, both of you misspell & repeat words, so I recommend a thesaurus.
