Politics is shaken by a new wave of #MeToo reckonings The accusations against Rep. Eric Swalwell — and his swift resignation after they became public — are driving a renewed focus on sexual misconduct and abuse in Washington.

I was proud to join with more than 30 women nonprofit leaders this week in response to sexual misconduct by elected leaders.

It’s not on the young people joining public life to try and fix this situation. It’s on the leaders. It’s on us to ensure that we are really holding power accountable.

On April 16, 2017, Easter Sunday, Robert Godwin Sr. — the father of Brady VP Brenda Joiner — was shot and killed while out for a walk in a heinous, random attack that was broadcast online.

Today, we remember Robert Godwin Sr. and honor his life, while holding Brenda and her family in our thoughts.

19 years ago today, 32 people were killed, and 17 people were injured when a gunman opened fire at Virginia Tech.

It remains one of the deadliest mass shootings in American history.

We must continue to fight for life-saving solutions to keep young people safe and prevent future tragedies.

I’m holding 32 fellow Hokies who should be here and their families in my heart today.

I promised myself that day that I would spend my time on earth making sure this never happens to another campus, another community, another family.

Let’s all act on that same promise.

My heart is broken at the loss of Cerina Fairfax, and devastated for her two children.

Cerina’s life mattered. And we will not stop fighting until women no longer have to fear dangerous partners or weapons in their home.

Virginia Ex-Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax Kills Wife and Self, Police Say Mr. Fairfax, a Democrat, served as lieutenant governor from 2018 to 2022.

This is horrific.

A woman is shot and killed by a husband or male dating partner every 16 hours in the U.S.

We must do more to address easy access to gun, keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers, and protect women.

APD seizes over 4K firearms over two-year period More than four thousand firearms were seized by Austin Police over the past two years, pulled from crime scenes, illegal activity, and investigations across the city. How those guns end up in the wrong hands often follows a familiar path.

Austin police have recovered over 4,000 guns from crimes in a 2-year period. Brady's Josh Scharff shares where these guns come from and how addressing the supply of firearms could prevent violence.

Feeling alienated at school can push adolescent boys toward carrying guns. Pediatricians, school staff, and clinicians can prevent this by identifying at-risk youth, fostering connection, and integrating trauma-informed support to reduce the risk of school gun violence.

We know that there is a proven, deadly connection between firearms and domestic violence. The longer that the passage of this bill is delayed, the more Marylanders are put in danger.

MD lawmakers need to pass this bill NOW!

Hegseth says he will let troops take personal firearms onto military bases Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth says he will allow service members to carry personal weapons onto military installations.

If anyone is unsafe on the most guarded, most protected properties in the world, then DOD has even bigger problems.

There’s an obvious reason why the Bush administration and leaders thereafter have retained this policy: Suicide rates are increasing. Secure storage matters.
