If OP does *anything* to make her aware, I agree. But assuming he doesn't, which is what the post sounds like, I don't think there's anything wrong. People think all sorts of horrendous things, its what they *do* that counts.

(Some) men do have a habit of making things weird, but I would say in this case, that as everything is in his head, you can hardly call him out. The dentist is unaffected unless she is telepathic.

😲Does that mean wife and I are going to have another child?

I don't get the impression this is what OP actually requested, so not sure 'poor' is the correct adjective.

Notes is a pain in the arse to use. I have no idea how my calendar works.

My thoughts exactly. That's a game changer.

They have no incentive to make crops that aren't heavily reliant on inputs, and we have no chouce but to use what is available. The science should be divorced from the profits, and conducted with an independent body, for the good of all.

The trouble is us farmers are caught between two camps. A good section of society seem to think all "chemicals" are bad and scream at us for destroying the environment.
But all the R&D is carried out by a handful of multinationals who sell us the seed, the sprays, and the fertiliser.

If sprays and fertiliser weren't economical, no one would use them

if people used social media less, they would read books more. And maybe there is some benefit to keeping people familiar with the act of reading, I don't know. Booktok has definitely has a positive impact.

Yes, I agree the amount of reading has increased due to social media, I just don't think this is a good thing. There are quite a few studies around the damage excessive social media consumption has, both on mental health and reading skills. I do agree though that it's not a simple matter of saying

That's my point. Reading is not reading is not necessarily reading. Someone who *only* reads via social media is likely doing more harm than good, their concentration levels will be damaged and their reading skills won't be improved.

If all reading is equal, and people are reading more than ever, then reading comprehension would be up, but it's not.

I'm not convinced how much people read on the Internet, and what the quality of that reading is. Skipping through short messages, interspersed with cat videos is not the same as reading, and hopefully digesting an extended idea. Reading comprehension levels are falling generally.

Some of the classics are awesome, some are awful. The idea that you should like a book because it is a classic makes a lot of people feel stupid, and puts them off reading

One of the most overrated books I have read.

At thd end of the day, look at the countries with the lowest gun death rates (and these really do approach 0) they *all* have strict gun laws, low gun ownership and high social cohesion. Social cohesion is going to be a long time coming in the US, but the gun laws could be brought in tomorrow.

I never said most, a said a significant amount. A quick search gives the amount at 1.2-2m.
All gun deaths would be better avoided. The fact Switzerland has lower murder rates than the UK, but about twice thd rate of gun murders, suggests Switzerland's approach may not be so on point.

Or if you mean vs the UK, then the guns which are held by ex military (which make up quite a percentage of the 2.2-4.5m guns) are under stricter regulations. The purely civilian guns aren't, but that probably explains why the gun death rate is about 4 times higher than the UK.

they are military, and the ammo for these is kept seperatly.
Plus societal conditions are very different from the US. You can't change these conditions over night (nor even really in a generation) but you can reduce the amount of gun washing about very easily.

In some ways it is a lot more restrictive, yes. Switzerland is lower the average in the EU, but it's not the lowest, and it's certainly not zero.
Yes, personal ammunition can be kept at home (under conditions far, far stricter than the US) but a lot of the guns in Switzerland aren't personal,

own fire arms, and banning most of those who do from keeping ammunition in the house.

This isn't really true. Switzerland has about 27 guns per hundred people, the USA has over 120. And Switzerland is nowhere near zero with gun crime, they are above most other European countries.
Plus their approach isn't mandatory training and responsibility, it's making most people ineligible to
