Please do not link Third Estate with what is going down with Hedone and Caitlin. Third Estate was a separate entity that was invited to be a part of Dark Lit before controversy started. As soon as there were whisperings of how Marceau was running things, our board made the decision to break away.

the whole 'red states bad, blue states good' mentality really puts into focus the way some of you people are about entire countries, actually.

and don’t get me wrong I love catering to my players but at this point it’s like they don’t share with each other and just expect me to give them things instead of running with the plots and talking to the GROUP to figure it out and theorize and…idk, be a team?

Truthfully it’s burning me out on DMing. I’m going to try to run a oneshot soon that will hopefully force them to understand why teamwork is important, but at this point I’m tired of running my own games because it seems like my players expect me to cater to their motivations as individuals first.

besties who DM TRRPGs, what do you do about players who seem to be averse to working together? that no matter what, the party just seems to NOT COMMUNICATE OR WORK TOGETHER despite every effort? Not in an antagonistic way, but they just don’t seem to think outside of their own stuff? #ttrpg

In the event we somehow manage to dig ourselves out of this, I truly hope that we, collectively, never forget that change and resistance was led by people either willfully leaving the safety of their lives/desks/offices, or were never afforded a life with opportunity for to be an 'elsewhere' at all.

i’m having a hard time again. i graduated from my masters program this past week and nothing has gotten easier. the things that are supposed to bring me joy have gotten complicated and frustrating.

can someone PLEASE tell me how to convince my grandparents that my university isn’t capable of just INVENTING a PhD program in my field because they “like me so much and want to keep me”

Young people SHOULD “have it easier” than you did. I’m sorry you got the strap up hill both ways and paid your debts with pounds of flesh, but the reason we work for progress is to make growing up and growing old gentler, easier, kinder, freer. Struggle isn’t necessary in a healthy society.
