Currency denomination is a very stupid thing to be nostalgic about. It’s much more sensible to be part of a larger stable currency than cling on to a sense of history/pride for the sake of it.

Yes, and also the bit that I simply can’t understand is how joining the euro always seems to be presented as a problem for Rejoin, not an opportunity. A chance to join the single currency that has massively enriched its members? You should be biting our arm off.
Again.. that is not the key argument!!! They point is to pool together to join a stronger more powerful shared currency. It can even have a pound coin on the other half of many of the coins but it will be a Euro
In Turkey, an elderly man who earns his living by shining shoes is visited every morning at the same time by a cat that asks to have its fur brushed. The man never turns down this little friend.😍👍💙
Not sure, but I think the "Ascot Accord" has a nice ring to it!

This week, Brexit finally killed our family business. We cleared out our warehouse, handed back the keys, paid the final bills and said goodbye to our last employee.
What was once a thriving firm died a slow, sad death, all thanks to Farage, Johnson and the gullible idiots they conned. 1/18

Have you tried therapy and drinking, at the same time? Or... drinking more? 😅 🍾
Indeed… and plans don’t seem much more advanced than “buy some land”… do these putative tech companies really need more real estate?
Or just cancel the nonsense clock changes ?
Worth reading “if anyone builds it, everyone dies” for a somber view on super AI
Agreed. Really good. So much of the political class/discourse is rooted in this working class myth/nostalgia, ignoring that many more folks these days are leasing an audi, doing telesales, sitting in front of computers etc etc. Time they caught up!
90 days… blah blah
Yes but it’s not that different to hanging around with like minded people in real life I suppose
1/5 The geopolitical calculus of the UK remaining outside the EU no longer makes sense.
The world today is vastly different from what it was during the original vote.
Continued division poses a severe strategic liability for everyone
Rachel Reeves says Brexit damaged growth and pushed up prices.
The reaction from Brexit supporters has been predictably furious.
But the real story isn’t the outrage – it’s why Labour is saying this now.
This was me with a Compaq/Windows 95, down to the cool fonts folder 😅
beautiful
I’m investing in this…
(1) The accused declared, ordered, or otherwise indicated that there shall be no survivors or surrender accepted; (2) The accused thereby intended to threaten an adversary or to conduct hostilities such that there would be no survivors or surrender accepted; (3) It was foreseeable that circumstances would be such that a practicable and reasonable ability to accept surrender would exist; (4) The accused was in a position of effective command or control over the subordinate forces to which the declaration or order was directed; and (5) The conduct took place in the context of and was associated with hostilities.
✋ Former USG war crimes lawyer here.
Apropos of SecDef's remarks this morning:
Denial of quarter—even the declaration of no quarter—is a war crime.
And recognized as such by the US Government.
From DoD's Manual for Military Commissions.
Yes, hello, is that God? Yeah, hi. I have a complaint. You gave me this brain that’s designed for finding berries and avoiding lions and now people are ‘just circling back’ to see if we can ‘move the needle’ on ‘key initiatives’? NONE of those things are berries.
So she admits that she “intervened” to give extra coverage to an “extreme” (her words) right wing movement… got it, thanks BBC
This is amazing.

So the text of the Euro-Gibraltar is out. Quick couple of points to make, and a lesson for UKG
Firstly, many have been slammed for saying that the only rational solution is via the Spanish authorities and border guards.
All we heard was "Gib will never accept..."

Net migration has collapsed even before implementation of draconian Blue Labour policies
OBR projections will be shot and fiscal issues worse
Need a surcharge to voting for these outcomes - you can hv fewer immigrants but you’ll have to pay a lot more tax as a result

I'd love to see an AI of Mason/Kuensberg effusively talking about Polansky as new PM, statesmanlike etc etc... the cognitive dissonance would be extraordinary.
🤣
