That's the part I think my students would struggle with. Granted, many of them are ELLs and have learning disabilities but I think some of those skills have been lost through use of the web.

At least in America, I feel like the lower literacy skill set lots of people have would struggle to make sense of this even though it's quite clear and efficient. It's truly more like a reference book for cooking rather than the narrative cookbooks we're used to today.

the confederacy aside, I'm fascinated by the layout of this cookbook. I think it would be a great text to teach students how to follow a text and directions and the pitfalls of NOT following steps.

If you're weren't familiar with Gwendoline Riley before this awards debacle, just let me tell you she is legit. Her book MY PHANTOMS is precise & unrelenting but she makes it look easy. Plus, I re-read half of it recently & had a different read from the 1st time, but either one works. Check her out.

I visited the red panda at prospect park zoo but it looked like a different one from the two I'd grown to know the last few years (one has definitely moved to Chicago) and I tried to search info on Rose...and one of the first results about her is one of my own instagram posts about her.
