Drives friends and family mad when they cut across a corner and I prissily (in their view) go the long way round.

Autocorrect is a nightmare. My typing is so bad that I proofread quite carefully, so to my relief I spotted before it was too late that when I tried to type “position statement” the autocorrect thought I meant ”idiotic statement.” Maybe autocorrect can read my mind.
An unforeseen consequence of having attended a Cambridge college is that having spent 3 years being forbidden on pain of God knows what to walk on the courtyard grass, even to cut across a corner, I am still (almost 50 years later) wholly incapable of following what I now know is a desire line.
I agree. I’m very much in favour of climate/environmental pressure groups, but the Green Party knows perfectly well that the better it performs in a GE the more likely it is that we’ll end up with a Reform government - a government that will do the exact opposite of everything the Greens stand for.
Aye lad, generally as a term of affection.
Happy birthday, young man. Always good to see somebody get there before me - I’ve got a couple of months to try to work out how and why time has suddenly accelerated.
No doubt at #PMQ there’ll be endless grandstanding questions about the Mandelson appointment, all from people who don’t care about the answers and probably don’t understand their own questions. Meanwhile it’ll be good if somebody asks for the PM’s views on where Reform gets its money from.
No chance. The evidence for that is their complete lack of interest in the foreign sources of the money flowing into Reform’s coffers and in Farage’s income from his multiple “second jobs.”
2/2 …are “literally” laughing all the way to the bank with their dodgy foreign / crypto / billionaire donations and the proceeds of their disreputable “second jobs” and nobody hears about it on the BBC / ITV / Sky or in most of the papers.
A really bad side effect of the Mandelson furore is that while MSM are obsessing about the details, largely for their own gratification and to persecute the hapless Starmer, the man who would be the next PM (Farage) and his UKIP / Brexit / Reform cronies, lickspittles, Tory flops and hangers-on 1/2
Good morning. Just thought a random cow might brighten up the day.
It doesn't take a forensic accountant to work out whose interests Nigel Farage really serves
It’s a mark of how completely normalised the corruption & depravity have become that we barely bat an eyelid at the thought of two *property developers*, one Trump’s nepo baby son-in-law, being sent to represent the USA in peace negotiations with Iran. Sometimes it all hits you afresh.
Also pure chance that you’ll never tune in to any news programme and find them talking about where Reform’s funding comes from.
Yes, very much so. It’s when the self-pity is mixed with paranoia, entitlement, English exceptionalism and irrational fear of “the other” that it becomes really dangerous.
True, but it’s about time Reform’s funding was subjected to some pretty serious scrutiny. Surely they’ll be keen to be totally transparent in the face of accusations about Russia, offshore billionaires, crypto and tax dodgers. Good grief - a pig just flew past my window.
Richard Tice deputy leader of Reform ran four shell companies which did not pay any tax on profits between 2020 and 2022.
He's now offering to "put things right".
Go on then Richard - resign.

What the actual fuck….
Let’s not forget that one of Farage’s colleagues is now in prison for taking Russian bribes.
I’m neither a royalist nor ex-services (apart from a stint in the TAVR), but one needs only to be a human being to applaud the quiet dignity of the contrast you have gently but devastatingly illustrated.
Grossly incompetent or dishonest from the BBC here
“Mistake”
“Woe to those who manipulate religion and the very name of God for their own military, economic, and political gain, dragging that which is sacred into darkness and filth” says the Pope. On this I agree with him!
Yep. Somebody said to me the other day that counsel using AI to do research / draft documents is a bit like using their pupil to do that work in that it has to be carefully checked. Occurred to me there’s another danger of using AI, namely that it will reduce the attraction of having a pupil at all.
Congrats on “opening” a strait that was open six weeks ago, and all it cost was at least 13 dead service members, thousands of dead Iranian civilians, tens of billions in taxpayer dollars, our loss in global standing, and the Iranian regime’s increase in power. Phenomenal work.
Look on the positive side, America! You may have produced Donald Trump. But you also produced Bruce Springsteen (and the E Street Band)!
A gift to the world, if ever there was one 👍

Whenever Starmer says “I wasn’t told” somebody is going to reply “Did you ask?” Having said that, did ANYBODY ask?
Always good to hear of somebody having the guts to stand up to the USA’s corrupt and anti-democratic administration.
