Opus 4.7 is almost worse in many ways to deal with. It is clearly more knowledgeable and can spot issues way way better. But it is annoying for writing code.

Very long responses, is way to eager to add unnecessary things, and makes embarrassingly obvious oversights.

Bluesky is a fun toy but for serious posters like myself the uptime is frankly unacceptable. I require enterprise-level availability and durability SLAs for any website where I'm going to post. I'm going to have my SRE team start looking into other options for my posts.

Most insane thing I’ve had Claude do, write a full tree sitter language grammar for the P programming language in under an hour, unsupervised. It works really well too! Does my syntax highlighting in neovim

Some new learnings of the day:
- Dependent types
- Algebraic effects

Unfortunately I think the answer to move quicker and better with AI when coding is to ask programmers to decorate their code with lots of Math.

I’m afraid the number of programmers willing to learn even one math is vanishingly small

how is anyone supposed to get work done dude. that's live. that's earth, right now, right this minute, and in an hour they are gonna splash in the sea. too in awe to think about where we'd be if this is what we funneled our tax dollars to instead of bombs that make gas prices quintuple overnight

100% and not even like facetiously. We have all the tools today to make provably correct software by construction. I think a major barrier though is you have to think in actors and state machines, which like functional programming, is a bridge too far for 99% of developers.

In a very weird spot where it feels that formal methods are the future of software but most tooling for formal methods is incredibly niche, not very useful beyond low level software/distributed systems, or has kind of archaic tooling.

Car manufacturers should start publishing digital deep dives into the actual construction of their vehicles. Something useful to a mechanic. In the age of LLMs, being able to upload the whole owners manual to help surface information is already helpful.

At some point the dam will break and incredible, powerful, cheap Chinese EVs will be sold in the US. They are just way too good not to be. The US (and Japanese) auto industry at that point will be relegated to producing niche low volume luxury vehicles.

So US allowing Chinese companies to build and sell cars here is bad because…? It gives US engineers the ability to study and learn from Chinese manufacturers, inside the US.

Canada is proceeding with almost this same strategy, it’s just plain smart when you’re behind.

American policy around nearly everything these days is so evil and stupid I can’t breathe.

Why not allow a small amount of Chinese EVs to be built and imported in the US and tell American auto manufacturers to “get good” before we start allowing more.

Not that this is even a feature of the Bluesky app per se.

It’s hard for me to remember sometimes since I’m in my little bluesky bubble that many many users have no concept of the tech behind bluesky. Bluesky is just the “sane alternative to X”.

You can say no to every feature if you don’t like it! You can even move your account to Blacksky!
