At this time, my bluesky account is mostly me scouting NSFW artists. And I am quite happy with that 👏

Readers aren't wrong to be skeptical. But innocent authors are getting caught in the crossfire. We aren't out of the woods figuring out this new era, folks.

BE CLEAR ABOUT YOUR AI STANCE
Sign an open letter. Add a statement to your copyright page. You don't need a social media campaign or to make it your new identity. Just give readers something to point to.
DON'T OVER-POLISH
Readers have learned AI rarely makes typos but produces bland, emotionally flat writing. Too-perfect formatting + hollow beats is now a tell. This isn't very pleasant for people who are used to this style, but it might be an opportunity to lean into your unique voice.
KEEP DATED RECORDS
False accusations happen. The successful defenses involved ironclad proof (e.g., publication dates predating ChatGPT). Keep timestamped drafts. Show your process in some way.
CREATE A VERIFIABLE PAPER TRAIL
Readers check for signs of humanity: websites, interviews, signing appearances, and credited collaborators. Presence helps. Absence invites scrutiny.
KNOW THE LISTS EXIST
Readers maintain and share lists of authors caught using AI. On Reddit, these posts get hundreds of upvotes and persist for months.
CONSIDER YOUR RELEASE CADENCE
Rapid publication pace is now a red flag. If you have a legitimate backlog, consider spacing releases or being transparent about your process. Some of us are just fast at releasing 🤷♀️
CREDIT YOUR COVER ARTIST
Include the artist's name, handle, and/or studio in your book description and copyright page. The point is to signal a real human made it.
AVOID AI-LOOKING COVERS
Readers assume AI covers = AI writing. If your cover looks generated, they'll think the worst about everything else, too.
After analyzing 2025 data from Reddit Romance reader communities, I confirmed that readers are actively hunting for signs of AI use.
So, here's what authors need to know. (Even the ones who don’t use AI.)

Point it out. POINT IT THE FUCKOUT. They are PRETENDING to not get it.

And almost no one is writing it.
Minotaurs have their queen — Morning Glory Milking Farm has 22,000+ reviews.

HELP WANTED: Satyr Romance Authors 🐐
I analyzed 400 Amazon titles in Greek monster romance and found a massive gap.
(thread 🧵)
The orc romance market has clear winners: 5 authors control 53% of the top 100 Amazon bestsellers. But readers on Reddit, Bluesky, and YouTube are requesting something different.
I analyzed both to find the gaps👉 monsterromancereviews.substack.com/p/reverse-en...
If you see a significant amount of discussion in Romance forums about (for example) sapphic romance, then why don't we see that reflected in the bestsellers? I’d really like to appreciate the nature of the disconnect fully.
Today is one of those days when I am looking at a bunch of social media and Amazon data and trying to puzzle out the difference between what sells and what readers actually ask for.
Thank you so much to @creaturefeature.bsky.social for letting me spotlight them and their adult toys business this week on my blog 🫶 Go read it here and check out their gorgeous stuff 👉👉 monsterromancereviews.substack.com/p/three-frie...
I'm trying to build some social listening Python scripts for romance trends in the speculative space (like monster romance...), and I really need Bluesky to stay a bastion of nsfw art and furries because this data is a potential gold mine for understanding what people want.
The AWS outage is a great reminder that Amazon’s power in the markets isn’t as a shopping platform (even though they can make or break individual small businesses at any time).
Their real revenue comes from hosting huge swathes of the Internet.
