A great country does not have starving children in it

A new study, published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal, found key gaps in the way allegations and findings of sexual assault and misconduct against physicians are tracked and reported in Canada.

Studios laying off hundreds and thousands of employees with the excuse that they can move production to the UK and not have to pay for healthcare because the UK has socialized medicine should be humiliating to the US government.
Phoeo of a cute cat behind a super market toy set looking at the camera, with the silly caption of "Khajiit has wares if you have coin" which is a known The Elder Scrolls line.
Khajiit has wares if you have coin
This reminds me of a “multistakeholder convening” I was invited to years ago, intended the solve the problem of “lack of trust in tech.” When I suggested the real problem was that the tech industry wasn’t trustworthy, the bros looked at me like I had three heads.
Oh gosh, I hope he will be ok.
This Is Just To Say
I have turned off
the AI features
that were in
the update
and which
you were probably
hoping
to monetize
Fuck you
they were stupid
so unnecessary
and so annoying
“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back to a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”
IT SAVES PUBLIC MONEY to house people.
Thank you for your courage to publicly address abusive language.
Someday, with luck and hard work, she will have a name too.
The electoral boundaries commission website has been taken down but the commission’s interim report, final report, and public submissions are available on the Elections Alberta website: www.elections.ab.ca/resources/re...
data centers: less popular than nazis
i simply find it a little hard to believe that shortly after every website implemented ai code and fired a bunch of engineers they all started breaking constantly every single day but its not related to the ai code or the skeleton crew
I do not believe the internet was a mistake. I think giving entitled little shits unlimited money to do racism and misogyny and dress it up as accommodating disabled people in a super ableist way is.
And I know enabling that culture is destroying us.
Birding? Data centers disrupt habitats.
Religion? AI cults and JesusBot 9000 who suspiciously says white supremacist stuff.
Art? Everyone is now suspicious of everyone else and no one is buying.
Cooking? Good luck with this recipe that chatGPT barfed up.
Yeah... There's at least one similarly frustrating wait happening in my household too so I completely understand.
*virtual hugs!* I hope the wait time lessens for you soon!!
The downside to routine is when you follow it so closely that you forget that it has changed slightly for one day and then you're running around to try not to be late for said alternative plans when you went too far along your routine schedule. Fortunately I was not actually late, but still!
Time for me to make a "game devs against ai" feed to go along with the artists one. It might be harder to verify, with how many different processes go into games. But i'll try 🫡
if YOU are a game developer that despises ai slop, please let me know! #games #gamedev #noai #antiai #videogames #art
*sending virtual hugs and support*
Oh Ugh. Agreed! Feel better soon!!

Life is already difficult enough when you're not bipedal, but Talita has had enough that the hand of a rogue spaceship A.I. is enough to make her stargaze...

The wealthiest 1% own 50% of stocks and the top 10% own 87%, per Federal Reserve.
The bottom 50% of Americans owns only 1%, but we hear about the stock market constantly in media (even NPR and MS NOW). Seems like we could hear more about the opportunity costs of not providing universal health care.
To the doomers who keep saying Trump will rig the 2026 and 2028 elections: Do not concede in advance
People will be closely studying how Hungary's opposition pulled off their win in such a pro-incumbent system. Important to note that the theme was corruption. Democrats need to get much better at calling out Trump's corruption.
For a government obsessed with personal freedom, the UCP sure loves telling people what to do. They've done it in classrooms, libraries, and end-of-life care. But nowhere is the hypocrisy more glaring than in drug policy.

Here’s the wonderful news. Shadowpaw Press’ Kickstarter for the On Spec 2026 anthology is fully funded, and they are open to submissions of original short stories from Canadian writers!
In Turkey, an elderly man who earns his living by shining shoes is visited every morning at the same time by a cat that asks to have its fur brushed. The man never turns down this little friend.😍👍💙
there is no politician so irreplaceable that we must overlook sexual misconduct because nobody else could possibly fill their shoes
The biggest difference between 1990s Internet and 2020s Internet is that the bulk of our online activity has been corralled onto unregulated for-profit digital platforms
The profit motive driving the way these platforms are designed and run is the root cause of everything that goes wrong on them
