~TBC~ 😔
Standing abruptly, Ochako fished for some money in her purse through tears welling, placing it on the table.
Without another blurry glance at the TV or anything else in that cafe, Ochako swiftly turned on her heel and left, ignoring the sound of her heart crack open once more.
Ochako’s breath hitched.
Live? This was live news?
Her eyes flickered to the time: it was past 11am.
Fists clenched, Ochako left out a shaky breath — he was picking work.
Again.
The choice had been made, loud and clear.
Katsuki wasn’t coming.
Ochako’s eyes drifted around the empty cafe, ears perking at the sound of the news on the small TV mounted on the wall.
“The villain has been apprehended, with no severe casualties recorded thanks to Shouto and Dynamight’s quick work. We go live to the scene to hear from the heroes n—”
Ochako made herself cosy, sitting exactly where she’d been on that first date with Katsuki.
The familiar aroma of strong coffee, the nostalgia of the place — somehow, it all helped unconsciously ease her nerves.
Regardless of what happened, this diner would always be a fond memory.
Ochako grinned — the waiter who had served her and Katsuki on their first date was on shift, it seemed.
“The usual?”
“Yes please!”
“And the usual for Dynamight, too?”
Ochako’s grin tightened fractionally. “Mhmm.”
“Great, take a seat at your usual booth. I’ll have it ready soon.”
Having experienced hell itself, there was very little that could unnerve a top ranking hero.
Yet the walk to the diner was enough to cause sweaty palms Ochako hadn’t felt since her first day at U.A.
“Oh! Uravity, I haven’t seen you here in a while!”
Ochako laughed, feeling a lot better than she did earlier.
Beneath the warring emotional and rational thoughts, clarity began to rise.
And so when Saturday finally arrived, Ochako decided to follow her heart.
Consequences be damned – that bridge could be crossed when it needed to be.
Shouto was right — Ochako wasn’t defined by her past, the future was hers to write too.
“Will you guys be disappointed if I go?”
“Never. You know we’ll always support you, regardless.” Shouto tilted his head, thinking. “I will always make sure I stand to his left, though. He deserves to be cold.”
“Yeah,” Ochako smiled at the now fond memory. “I remember. I did say that, didn’t I?”
There had been a sudden worry about his parent’s marriage, worry about making similar mistakes, the possibilities of projecting.
“You’re not your past, Shouto.”
“And neither are you, Ochako.”
“Because I don’t want to get hurt again,” Ochako whispered.
Shouto’s eyes softened. “‘There’s no guarantees in love, Sho. We take a risk because we’re willing to try.’
That’s what you told me when I started to panic two minutes before I got married. Do you remember?”
“Do whatever leaves you with the least regrets.” Shouto’s answer was simple. “Will you regret trying again? Or will you regret it more if you don’t try again?”
“Don’t make it sound so easy, Sho.”
“Why does it need to be complicated?”
“If you want to go, then just go.”
“The issue isn’t whether I want to go or not,” Ochako mumbled. “It’s whether I should.”
Could Katsuki be trusted?
Would he do better this time?
What if the promised efforts were short-lived?
“I doubt h—why are you looking at me like that?”
Shouto shrugged, smirking. “Seems like you’re making a lot of excuses on his behalf, for someone who is supposed to be unsure about going on this date.”
Ochako groaned into a nearby cushion.
“If he hadn’t seen you that day, do you think he’d have suggested trying again?”
“I don’t know,” Ochako answered truthfully. “He probably didn’t want to overstep by seeking me out first. I was at HIS parent’s house, obviously I still care.”
Maybe that had been enough of a sign to spur Katsuki on.
“If it were me, I wouldn’t go.”
Ochako’s eyes landed on Shouto, curiously.
“Not if it took him 8 months to try and fix things.”
“Kat has never been great at processing things quickly.” It wasn’t an excuse, but Ochako was one of the few people who knew Katsuki’s mind best.
“So what are you going to do, Ochako?”
“I don’t know, Sho.” Ochako sighed, looking up to the ceiling.
Did she meet Katsuki this Saturday?
Or was it better to forgo possible reconciliation to protect herself?
But the reality was a far cry from the ideal.
Instead, Ochako’s heart ached — for herself, for Katsuki.
The anguish that had brimmed in his eyes had only hurt her; his suffering brought no pleasure whatsoever.
Rather, it bred more misery about the state of their situation.
Their fateful encounter had replayed in Ochako’s mind, over and over.
In an ideal world, it would’ve been something to relish, hearing Katsuki’s admittance it’d been a struggle coming to terms about losing her.
Just maybe, it would’ve been the last piece needed to complete her closure journey.
A proposition to start afresh?
The sheer audacity to suggest such a thing was unfathomable.
But in some ways, Ochako expected no less from Bakugo Katsuki.
It’s the 8th update! Thank you guys for your patience.

He had about 4 minutes to make it to the diner.
“I d—How the fuck do you know that?”
Shouto shrugged, smirking. “Do you have time to ask questions right now? Go get your girl back, Dynamight.”
With a final lethal glare that could kill, Katsuki took off, not looking back.
