Ultimately, we sought to show that the Latine vote “no es nada del otro mundo”— is nothing mysterious, earth shattering, or unexpected. In doing so, we hope to encourage more interdisciplinary investigations into the social psychological mechanisms underlying Latine politics!

Across two studies, we integrated social scientific literatures on U.S. Latine ID and politics to consider how (1) the Latine community’s racial & motivational heterogeneity and (2) the sociopolitical connotations & historical fluidity of whiteness might have shaped Latine voting in 2020 and 2024.
