As much as the NHS is in my DNA, it is appallingly cruel at times. I hope that this allowed you the space to find something even better.

Over 2000 people have been killed in Lebanon by Israel . 1.2 million people are now homeless.

The beautiful ancient city of Lebanon, once called 'the Paris of the East", is being bombed to rubble.

The majority of Lebanese people have nothing to do with Hezbollah

He’s a racist and misogynist.

Let’s look at his Facebook posts.

Reform’s “flag ship” council and this was their heartland!

Brilliant result and a brilliant campaign!

Well done all involved

Ed Miliband has sold us all out.

The climate movement, the environmental sector - and most importantly - our future generations.

No longer can Labour claim to have the odd minister who "gets it."

They're bought and paid for.

Dear BBC, very odd to make the sacking of an unknown radio presenter first item on the news.
Anything to distract the demos, lest they notice the billionaires picking their pocket and polluting the planet. 👀

Law breaking and democratic deficit at Kent County Council Laws: don't ya just love 'em? 'Specially those laws designed to protect that which is most important in life. People, planet, democracy, etc. Laws such as councils not influencing people during an election, a law known colloquially as Purdah. It is a pretty serious one to break. A ruling party using public resources to to influence an election to increase their grip on control.

Happy International Women’s Day!

Let’s celebrate our mothers, our daughters, our grandmothers, our aunties, our sisters, cousins, colleagues, friends and even the friends we have not yet made.

“Here’s to strong women, may we know them. May we be them. May we raise them”

So Reform whinge about us mentioning Gaza in the Gorton and Denton by election, an issue highly relevant to the electorate and parliament yet are silent when the campaign in local elections to “stop the boats”.

Blatant hypocrisy

If the Greens defeat Farage in Gorton and Denton, it'll change politics forever. I think that's worth donating a few quid to, don't you?

A bird's-eye view of a former Auschwitz II-Birkenau camp showing a wide dirt pathway flanked by parallel rows of barbed-wire fences. Groups of visitors walk along the path, surrounded by the remnants of brick structures and barracks, now reduced to foundations. Green grass contrasts with the somber history of the site, as the path leads toward a guard tower in the distance.

Auschwitz was at the end of a process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred gradually developed: from ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

Covid conspiracy theory being spread by Cllr Kemkaran I have just discovered that Cllr Kemkaran is spreading doubt and conspiracy theories about Covid-19 vaccinations. This is from the Guardian: "Linden Kemkaran, who runs Kent county council, suggested in September that the party should hold an inquiry into whether Covid vaccines were linked to cancer, even though there is no medical evidence to back up the notion." It is truly appalling for someone who has no noted medical qualifications to use her platform to spread such misinformation and doubt.

Full Council at Kent 18th Dec The shocking failure of leadership, transparency, and democracy continues apace under Reform at KCC. The refusal to answer my question on savings was frankly pathetic. This was my initial question: "The Council is forecast to be £46.5m overspent this year, with Adult Social Care forecasting an overspend of £51m including £21m of savings for 2025/26 that have not been achieved. The Leader has also previously announced £40m savings across various other service areas while the real the spending pressure on the Council is Adult Social Care.

Conservatives vote not to reduce council tax for the poorest in Maidstone You couldn't make it up. Cllrs Cannon and Forecast claim they want lower taxes and then they vote against providing 100% council tax reduction for those on the lowest incomes while suggesting that they should get a job. Personally I am proud that we will be able to ensure that those on the lowest income won't face enforcement for non-payment of council tax that they can't afford. The level of struggle that many face is shocking and I want to do everything in my ability to help them.

Vote of confidence This week I faced a vote of no confidence brought by the Conservatives. Apparently it is the first time this has happened at Maidstone Borough Council. Their motion fell 28 votes to 14. It was a pretty nasty affair. A few of the said that their problem was with me, not the administration, i.e. it was personal rather than political. They made comments about the way I lead rather than whether what I have done has been successful.

Local Government Reorganisation It's been over a year in the making so far but we are about to clear a hurdle in the plans for Local Government Reorganisation (LGR). This was hatched a few weeks after the general election (it wasn't in Labour's manifesto) and next week Kent Council's need to submit our proposals for how councils will be structured across Kent from 2028.

Historical misogyny and a pardon for murdered women I never thought that a simple letter that took just minutes to write would put Maidstone on the international map! I wrote the letter below to the Home Secretary calling for a pardon for the women murdered as a result of the Witchcraft Act and it has made national and international news. I've been on Politics Live, ITN, BBC Politics SE, and CNN (see below).

The Nobel Peace Prize was won by María Corina Machado.

Venezuela's opposition leader.

Her biggest policy, privatising Venezuela's Oil Reserves, the largest in the world, worth nearly $100tn.

Hmm... I wonder why she won?
