Me back home from a trip to Trader Joe’s realizing I bought everything but the one thing I actually went there to buy.

Meanwhile over on Nextdoor, Karen is concerned that building that 4 story apartment will overwhelm the local school district.
"While we're talking about who NOT to vote for, I give you Planning Commissioner and proud ultra-YIMBY, Seema Patel. ... Here she is in a recent picture she posted with Senator Wiener and other YIMBY faithfuls ... to strip all local control from cities"
San Mateo - vote for Seema Patel!
That wall came out of nowhere!

There are eight e-bike bills happening in Sacramento this year. Streets For All is sponsoring two of them, and fighting to either amend or oppose six more. Tell your California reps to fix the real e-bike problem. www.streetsforall.org/blog/2026-ca...
Guessing most of the drivers’ texts were posts to Nextdoor ranting about cyclists not stopping, riding two abreast and juvenile hoodlums on e-bikes. patch.com/california/s...
The whole "cyclists are entitled" thing is obviously bullshit, but when it happens it's worth unpacking what those people are really saying: "I don't think cyclists are entitled to ride without the risk of serious injury or death."
That's all we are asking for. And it's ghoulish to oppose that.
Amen
If I'm sending you this, I'm seriously asking why people.
I’ve never met a homeowner on the Peninsula who thought to themselves, I need to maintain and update this house or I won’t be able to get a decent price for it when we sell.
High agency is, in the end, the most aristocratic justification for inequality that American capitalism has yet produced, and it’s arrived just in time for the most grotesquely unequal moment in American life since the first Gilded Age.

I wish it was my fate to be sitting on the balcony at sunset watching the sun go down behind the foothills while sipping a chilled Chablis.
Imagine a study that found kids with ADHD have more visits to doctors than kids without ADHD — and used that finding to suggest ADHD treatment doesn't work. That's the standard of evidence the anti-trans braintrust is willing to accept.
Wild that Altman is being sued by his sister for repeated sexual abuse and that doesn’t come up in basically every conversation about him. I get that it’s alleged but if that shit was happening to someone else I feel like that would come up, particularly if that person had a history of lying a lot.
Through the view of one community in San Jose, this article tells the whole story of the Bay Area housing crisis, from the lack of housing to the unequal economy. There's also a section on the negative consequences of Prop 13.
Help maintain San Mateo’s history of suburban sprawl and exclusionary housing policies!
CHRISTINA KOCH GREETING HER DOG AFTER RETURNING FROM THE MOON IM GONNA CRYYY 😭😭😭
The only reason it’s on the market is because they died and their kids moved away.
California's property tax system works like this. It's likely the previous owner of the house you bought was paying House B levels of property taxes for the past 40 years, tanking the local government's revenue. And then when you buy the house, you pay $50K per year in property taxes.
Hire a good injury lawyer to follow through on collecting from the driver’s insurance and your coverage for underinsured drivers in case their insurance does cover your recovery expenses. That’s what I did when I was hit by a driver while I had full right of way.
Beware of candidates who claim to be pro-affordable housing and small business while fighting against building any new homes.
It’s usually “I can’t do a Costco run in my truck; it will get scratched.”
What the fuck is going over on Threads with broligarchs protecting fellow broligarch pedophiles?
Does any North American city have more boba shops per capita than San Mateo?
Boomers who fought all new development tooth and nail and saw their children move away to raise families are now upset that the environment they worked so hard to create makes downsizing a challenge.
Inclusionary zoning is bad. Instead of relying on kludgy market based mechanisms that don’t work, the government should directly subsidize housing for poor people.
Inclusionary zoning is bad policy and we should stop doing it.
This is what it looks like when you consider the safety of the people on the outside of the vehicle.
