Lowkey starting to think the Senate is 50/50 atp

Bush '08 numbers speedrun
Hope he gets down to 29% in November so we can see what the bottom falling out looks like
Listen but the Dems (people who annoy me online) say mean things about men occasionally and that's why they are going to lose
“Can raw economic self interest overcome partisan/cultural affiliations” guess we’ll find that out soon! (rip my energy bills though)
I appreciate how Trump is launching the most anti-rural Administration in a long time. Might save KS from Brownback 2
Wichita was Trump +4 in 2024 and Johnson County was Harris +8. If those two regions rocketed left the state would be far less solidly under the GOP’s thumb.
Like Dems could come within reasonable length of winning the state House of Reps (though some rural districts would have to give)
Now I do worry about irregular militias deciding to blow stuff up and murder random people to the point political violence is endemic
Main reason I’m pretty bullish on there being no “American Failstate” anytime soon is that the opportunity cost of actual violence is so high that no elite group is group is really going to want to sustain it long term and I don’t think enough Americans will give up their cozy lives for it
I’ll note in the guy who wrote this (@ynot1989.bsky.social) described a famine wiping out 5 million people as national logistics collapsed. Not enough oil getting refined
I think Missouri is really testing how hard you can push GOP policy before something snaps.
At least the voters can still block this in the referendum but otherwise rip
Lowkey I sometimes think a constitutional reform where the power of the presidency is very constrained, but the term gets extended to 6 years with Congressional elections every 3 would be more sane.
But six years is a long time
I think the constant cycles are part of what is making everyone insane
Something something Machiavelli fear and hate
I love how many people act like the Dems are literally the Bene Gesserit and have the ability to bend US politics to their will
Gonna try and do the Galaxy Brain “Lol I was anti-war but I did nothing meaningful to stop it lol lmao lol” and somehow the press takes them at their word
World where Marco Rubio is President from 2021-2025, gets his shit rocked from post-Covid malaise (no big stimulus), and loses 54-44 to Kamala Harris
We came so close to at least kinda consolidating Obama’s victories in 2016 and it’s infuriating to think about what could’ve been.
HIM freaked me the fuck out when I was a kid so she is 100% valid for that one
Orbán is gone now - we can do it too
There's a small, optimistic part of me that thinks the nihilism and bleak worldview of the far-right will eventually lead to their own destruction.
Like I honestly do think a campaign of "a better future is possible" could work really well especially in the face of four-years of reactionary rule
MAD for the petrochemical industry rip
It’d be so satisfying to see him lose the national pv by 10.5pp
GOP in 2029 suddenly gonna care about the executive respecting the integrity of agencies established by Congress
Will say would be very fun to see ICE get RIF
Someone needs to teach members of Congress about “Ambition” again
lol, actually, the framers wanted all legislation passed through omnibus budget bills that include as much of a party’s platform as the rules allow ( which we can change btw)
Alt timeline where we only acquired Louisiana and the stretch from NOVA-Boston is the most densely populated region in the Americas (connected by high speed rail)
Green New Deal gonna become a strategic necessity
It’s why I despise Second Amendment LARPers cause the end result of that is political life becomes defined by fear and violence. Government at the whim of armed thugs
I don’t like where the normalization of political violence is leading us. Shit like this is becoming common
Luigi posting is bad, actually!
Hopefully it's a Republican
