+1 I thought KS was boringly competent, and had centre left beliefs whilst demonstrating a bit of political ruthlessness on occasion when absolutely necessary. Turns out he isn't competent, is an absolute pushover in the face of Reform and is only ruthless when his personal position is threatened.
Morgan McSweeney: resigned for telling the Prime Minister to make Peter Mandelson US ambassador.
Olly Robbins: fired for not telling the Prime Minister not to hire Peter Mandelson.
Keir Starmer: completely blameless and apparently without responsibility for anything.

Brian Cant and Floella Benjamin smile out from the cover of an album: Songs from BBC TV's Play School and Play Away
At 11am on 21 April 1964, Play School made its debut, and became the first programme ever broadcast on BBC2
Hey, Keir! Everyone can see you!
(Yet again.)
I often wonder what would have happened if Smith hadn't died when he did. 🤷
The introduction pf relentless spin, never answering the question, sticking to the hymn sheet no matter what...?
I preferred the Wilson-Callaghan-Healey-Smith version. At least they had some relationship with reality.
While at St David's, Ben performed ‘Sheep May Safely Graze’ by Bach on the old church organ. To watch Ben’s full YouTube video, please follow the link below: www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOj0...

Exactly what I thought. 🤣
Anyone supporting Streeting's plan is effectively saying we should ditch the organisation that ran the most sucessful health campaign in NHS history and move it's functions to the people responsible for PPE contracts.
Well done!
Phew! (Whatever it is!)
I cannot believe a Labour government minister would utter the words "the gambling industry brings joy to a lot of people and I [am aware of]...the harms that affect a minority of people". Just incredible.
Oh and her brief is 'culture' too. What an absolute joke.
In some ways the more interesting question isn't who you replace Starmer with, it's who replaces Reeves. Especially because Miliband is the standout candidate for the latter and he can't do both.
They want a lot of identifying information, don't they. 🫣
"We accidentally made an animated graphic for Reform and then did a party political broadcast for them by mistake."
I went and watched the segment on iPlayer. This is absolutely wild. It’s basically doing a free micro political broadcast for Reform during BBC Breakfast.
OMFG I had to go and check that this ACTUALLY happened.
Since when does the BBC ever do chyrons with a political party's branding, rather than their own? Not to mention this is during a pre-election campaign purdah.

Yes. Those being vetted are assured that their data will be held “in the strictest confidence”. That undoubtedly gives rise to an enforceable legal duty of confidence.
Awful news about Giles Peaker, @nearlylegal.co.uk, a brilliant legal blogger and a real pioneer.
A great figure in using the internet for the public understanding of law.
My comment was about whether he was convincing people. I
It's a real problem that these contests now take so long. In 1990, it took exactly two weeks from Heseltine challenging Thatcher to John Major entering Number 10. Nowadays, unless you can bypass the process with a coronation, you have to paralyse government for three months.
It's quite interesting how many different ways they've found to misjudge the mood here, but yes, this is particularly offensive.
Not according to anyone else in my timeline.
"We call for responsible reporting that sheds a light on systemic injustices and highlights the voices of those most affected by them."

Suspect the Prime Minister's express attacking of foreign office officials is not sensible.
