It's interesting/depressing that over time every subreddit coalesces around just a few 'facts' that get the most upvotes, e.g. billionaires are responsible for everything bad, Europe is overrun, British food is bad.
I hope so, this is a critical moment to capture the public's imagination on a dash to renewables (I also wish he was more pro-nuclear though)
Yeah I said it too, but that was the implication I got from his post (which is why I asked the question in the first place) - but obviously we could both be misreading
But he's right, the UK can't windfall tax most of the companies in the graphic, and Polanski has picked this as the graphic to share so you can't blame the Guardian. What do you actually disagree with him about?
If anything this Bayern Madrid game is better than the Barca game last night
Were you being rude to me? I didn't take it that way.
As it stands I'd be very happy with a Green party government, I just didn't like this post.
He just listed a group of companies and implied we could tax their profits
In almost all cases I don't think we can as they aren't UK companies
But it sounds like you don't disagree with my point
It isn't hopeless defeatism! British politics is crying out for an optimistic approach but I don't think this post is that at all. I think it's misleading and gives the impression he doesn't understand the issues.
If we want him to be prime minister we should be holding him to a high standard.
Saudi Aramco, for example, isn't based in the UK so I would think its profits aren't taxable by the UK.
I'm happy to be corrected but from the companies listed only Shell paid windfall taxes in 2022?
But the UK can't windfall tax these companies can they? I don't understand what your point is

Fantastic result, and the first really great performance for quite a while. Pino excellent when he came on; deserves a start soon. #cpfc
I always like to look at the UK food subreddit over Easter to look at the food people are eating.
Lots of nice roast lamb, then there is the nutter eating Hula Hoops out of an Easter Egg.
City have had a few times this season where they look 'back' - but now they look the real deal
The toddler tantrum thing has been overdone a lot with Trump, but this is exactly what this is.
He has no mechanism to make this look like a win so I imagine this could go on for a while.
Land's End. If I squint I think I can see New York
We finally beat Larnaca. It took 5 hours, but we finally did it. #cpfc
This is the longest game ever #cpfc
I actually want him to
Is there any understanding of how successful the CAS appeal is likely to be?
What a hit from Eze. That guy is magic
Oh thanks. I read that and completely failed to register what it said
I don't understand how grass snakes feature but robins (i.e. the national bird) don't
Having said that hedgehogs would look great on a £5 note
What did people say for the 'something else' option?
What a paragraph.

Absolutely the best film of last year
Actually feel bad for Brennan Johnson, first really great cross of the day and he's offside. Can't get anything right.
