Closing out season 2 with a banger. 📚💙
It’s the final episode of season 2! This week we’re talking to actor, comedian, writer and crime fiction aficionado Peter McGann! Digressions include Áine’s thesis, the beauty of low tech crime fiction and the enduring allure of the hard boiled detective.

I think this is the longest book I’ve ever read and listeners of @itysrpod.bsky.social have heard me mention the book numerous times, mostly in trepidation of reading the bloody thing. Stupidly proud of myself for getting the head down and reading it. Maybe next year I’ll do Haughey.
The final episode of season 2 drops tomorrow! We'll be discussing Ross MacDonald's "The Chill" with crime fiction nerd Peter McGann! 💙📚

NEW EPISODE
There’s a new episode waiting for you! This week we speak to @ronanhession.bsky.social, author of Leonard and Hungry Paul, Panenka and Ghost Mountain about The Notebook Trilogy by Ágota Kristóf, a book best described as ‘a book for anybody but not for everybody’. 📚💙

Hope you enjoy listening to this as much as I enjoyed taking part in it.

Would you like to hear @ronanhession.bsky.social's thoughts on 'The Notebook Trilogy' by Ágota Kristóf. My favourite description of the series so far is Rónán describing this book as like 'a strong blue cheese'. You'll have to tune in tomorrow to find out more!!

Good morning, good morning! We have a brand new episode waiting for you with the lovely @richycraven.bsky.social! We discuss Terry Pratchett’s “Nation” and assess how well any of us would do being shipwrecked on an island in the Pacific. 📚💙

Also this was recorded in September last year so if it sounds like we have too much joy and hope for humanity in our voices then that might explain it.

NEW PODCAST
🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨
Just started listening and Rosemary MacCabe also got her book free with a magazine, glad to know I wasn't misremembering that magazines used to include free stuff back in the day. Not necessarily good stuff but hey, free 😀
New episode with the excellent Rosemary MacCabe has landed! Listen to hear us discuss the diabolical Venus Envy by Louise Bagshawe and stay our creamy Guinness Irish accents and some of the other truly horrendous Irish stereotypes. 💙📚

New episode tomorrow with the superb Rosemary McCabe, and it's a good one as we encounter possibly the worst book that Áine and I have ever encountered.... Venus Envy by Louise Mensch (neé Bagshawe).
We're an Irish podcast that asks a cool person what book they think everyone should read! We've interviewed people like @patrickfreyne.bsky.social, @seamas.bsky.social, @griffski.bsky.social, @markoconnell.bsky.social, @prasifcat.bsky.social and more! 📚💙

Yeah we are on Apple and I think most podcast platforms!
A very good podcast that it was a delight to appear on, and an even greater delight to listen to every week. (Just my own episode, I'm a massive big head).
We also talk about what books Rachel and Áine are reading. We aim to have a chat similar to a good book club. So if this sounds like your vibe, please come listen to us, like and subscribe, leave us a review and tell your mates about us too. Every engagement helps!!! 💙📚
We're midway through season 2 and we've still interviews to come with @richycraven.bsky.social, @ronanhession.bsky.social, Rosemary McCabe and Peter McGann. The books they've chosen are all wildly different which is one of the best things about doing this show.
