My Republican colleagues are turning a blind eye as the President escalates unhinged threats to obliterate an entire civilization. A moral failure and cowardice of the highest order.

Speaker Johnson must bring the House back to stop this blatantly illegal, immoral threat.

I’m in DC today, ready and able to vote to rein in this out-of-control war. Republicans control the Senate and the House – they need to have the courage to call us back into session and then vote to hold this President accountable.

I feel sick to my stomach waiting around to see what atrocity Trump has in mind for the people of Iran this evening. It's hard to fathom our other elected leaders aren't able to check him in any meaningful way. It's an indictment not just of voters but of our whole system. We're ruled by a mad king.

During the Biden administration, the Defense Department created the Civilian Harm Mitigation and Response initiative. The civilian mitigation teams – cut by 90% by Hegseth – work with military commanders on target planning, and making sure that targets are actually military sites. The teams help come up with "no strike" lists, including religious and cultural sites and schools

I knew that the Department of War shot a missile into a school & killed 175 civilians, mostly children.

Im seeing discussions about consultations with congress, authorizations of force etc. I have to say this transcends any of what I would call sub constitutional technicalities. The president has gone to war with a foreign power and, it seems, kidnapped a foreign head of state on the basis of nothing.

Kidnapping the leader of a foreign state without any declaration of war and announcing it via social media is full-on rogue state stuff. From the world’s number one superpower.

Among the many reasons you don’t kidnap a foreign head of state at gunpoint even if you have the capability, is that it sparks consequences you can neither control nor anticipate.

Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

The two parties are not remotely the same, & yet they are covered in our most prominent outlets in exactly opposite proportions to the actual degree of scandal, lawbreaking, authoritarianism, etc. It has been uneven for decades, but it’s reached new levels of farce & obscenity since Trump.
