It is particularly problematic that in signing on to the obvious fiction that this president is responsible for the support shown to it by members of Congress, STAC is playing an ill-sighted and morally bankrupt short game that risks the future of not just American science, but America.
This is absolutely disgraceful. The scientific societies and universities that are members of this organization should either unambiguously condemn genuflecting to a president whose budget would have gutted research, and whose broader actions grow ever more repellent on a daily basis.
