If anyone has a few extra dollars and is in a position to donate today, Dragonfly is doing amazing things to help reduce the stigma around mental health challenges in academia, and propagate tools to address them. And they really need our support.

It is particularly problematic that in signing on to the obvious fiction that this president is responsible for the support shown to it by members of Congress, STAC is playing an ill-sighted and morally bankrupt short game that risks the future of not just American science, but America.

This is absolutely disgraceful. The scientific societies and universities that are members of this organization should either unambiguously condemn genuflecting to a president whose budget would have gutted research, and whose broader actions grow ever more repellent on a daily basis.

I agree that the biggest jolt to NIH-funded science system been administrative/political rather than budgetary - but it's worth noting that US science's political strategy has for decades focused exclusively on budgets, while ignoring widespread administrative dysfunction and its consequences.

Resisting AI slop It’s hard to talk about any topic in science or education today without the subject of artificial intelligence (AI) coming up—whether large language models should be allowed to aid in searching for a ...

Ironically you need AI to disentangle this human generated slop from @science.org, a mix of absurd self-promotion & antaidiluvian rant that is a fitting death rattle for and org who has willingly sabotaged science by placing their interests over actual progress.
