Posted this piece just before this afternoon’s murmurs that the stadium footprint could encroach on Crown Center. Coverage would take on whole new meaning if, say, Royals want to demolish any “underutilized” complex offices and move tenants into a new ballpark district.
We’ll see in a few hours!

Missouri is positioned to offer the Royals valuable subsidies, but the math doesn't equate to 50% of a new downtown stadium. Here's why.

The City Council's vote on a $600 million funding framework is a big first step, but far from the last, needed for a $1.9 billion Royals ballpark project at Washington Square Park.

KC planners will let Saint Luke’s put a parking lot in place of a former Plaza-area hotel — but are putting the health system on the clock to return with plans for a “higher and better” use.

Overly rosy financial projections for the Power & Light District have left KC to cover nearly $200M in shortfalls on $295M in debt service to date.
Officials now say they’re being conservative modeling for as much as $600M in city-backed Royals bonds.

Much to start unpacking today, and in the weeks ahead, relating to the Royals’ clear, if not official, interest in a Washington Square Park stadium project. My base story from this morning, with more to follow from a sitdown with Mayor Lucas on KC’s $600M+ offer.

Dear Media: There is no other way of putting this. The Fake News's contumacious insistence on reporting what is actually happening in Iran rather than what Donald Trump would prefer was happening is setting back the war effort. So we at the FCC would like to provide you with some suggestions for updating your coverage. This is not a threat. However, please remember that we are in the process of consolidating every media company under the control of a man with a named boat who hates all the programming and has preemptively given Donald Trump his kidney, "just in case it ever comes in handy."

Five months ago, KC asked private donors to pledge another $21M for Blunt Luminary Park (for $50M total) before considering ~$65M more in bonds (for $90M total). Private pledges since totaled $1.75M, renewing council scrutiny over the park's path forward.
