The maple syrup is totally holding that down!
Overheard on a webinar this morning:
Panelist, after caller asks a detailed question about neighborhood plans near the project being discussed, which is in NYC: “are you from New York?”
Question-asker: “I’m from the New York of Ohio, which is Cincinnati.”
Applying the language of business efficiency to public services makes as much sense as asking what animals have done for us lately in exchange for our care for their habitats.
Why can’t Seattle spider season overlap with Seattle ant season?
In discussing possible future vacation plans, the 13yo offers “I’m willing to go to Hawaii, but I have some restrictions.”

That’s my kid!
I, as an IPA lover, am always excited to find a new one, so I really like that aspect of Seattle. But I am married to a lover of beers like you like, so I have firsthand knowledge of how difficult it is to purchase the preferred pilsners (or land the liked lagers, for more alliteration).
Chop Suey Presents: Coffin Break | The Scoffs | Sinister Six | Cheliceral Kiss on Saturday, June 6th At 4 pm
You know you’re getting g old when your friends are in a punk rock band that is playing a show starting at 4:00pm.
(I love it.)
Earnest question here: how do they expect people to know that a trans person’s ID has been invalidated? If you get pulled over, I assume the cops run your license and find out. But the liquor store cashier or the poll worker are just looking at a regular, unexpired license, right?
I knew it was bad but really didn’t appreciate it was quite this bad

Red plate: two pieces of toast, each with an egg fried in sesame and fennel seeds on top. Garnishes are chopped cilantro and drizzled harissa butter.
The very best breakfasts involve harissa butter.
I bet airlines make a killing on taxidermists since you only get one carrion luggage
Okay CTA. This is a good sign.
i can relate to how these astronauts feel sitting there for forty five minutes after landing because i’ve flown into o’hare before

Update: I’ve gone as far as I can for today. The bank needs me to produce some *paperwork* including a letter from our CEO (that’s me!) saying that I should be allowed to access the box. I’ll report back when my letter is received!
It looks like it was being paid from our healthy business checking account there, except our finance person left last year, so nobody else probably knew to do that. That’s how I found out about it: a notice of late payment arrived and no one recognized the names, so they put it in my mailbox.
I’m here today trying to gain access.
The last time someone physically accessed the box was September 2014.
What do we think is inside?
Krugerrand?
A treasure map?

Mystery alert!
My organization has discovered that we own a safe deposit box at the bank branch across the street. Among the 5 former board and staff people whose names are on the account, the last employed was in 2008, and she’s since passed away.
Happy anniversary, regardless of that shit.
City council meeting with a slide of the rendering of the DCAD building.
Here’s a version of the building rendering before we added in people, bikes, banners, benches, flowers, etc.
We are at a City Council Meeting in Maple Valley, supporting our partners at the Downtown Cultural and Arts District and n their presentation to have the building included in the City’s plans for their “Legacy Site.”
Exactly!
Unvarnished teenager reviews of a recent “random” dinner we cooked:
Mushrooms with Soy-Garlic Glaze| “these have too much flavor”
Polenta (“sounds like placenta”) with Romesco (“tastes like tomato, but it’s brown”) Sauce
Zucchini-Paneer Fritters| “zucchini is fake; it has no flavor.”
Shovel in the ground with a dog smelling around it.
Dog with his face next to the shovel and a new plant.
Dogs:
unhelpful in yard projects, likely since they first wandered into human settlements.
We ordered so many that they delivered them in garbage bags, each wrapped in paper and a rubber band, and we just dumped piles on 3 big tables, one pork, one chicken, one tofu. People loved it.
