Anyone who has had nightmares from my books can at least be comforted by the fact that I have given myself nightmares too.
Working on a new book which means I’ve reached the ‘scaring myself with my own research’ stage of writing which is generally followed by the ‘why do I write horror when I am terrified of horror’ stage of writing.
'What is that supposed to mean? That the law is obsolete in the face of a white supremacist sexual exploitation material-generating machine?'
It's the first column of the new year and it's grimmer than ever before, my friends.

‘Tis the perfect time to cosy up with a good book and some warm biscuits and with ‘Any Way You Slice It,’ you can have both!
Available in all bookshops!
They are spooky and heartfelt, have disability rep and found family themes and they have LGBTQ+ rep so you can literally make the Yuletide gay as well! What Walks These Halls, Who Watches This Place and Where The Shadows Hide are in all good bookshops now.
Both Charles Dickens AND The Muppets agree that ghosts are a Christmas theme so this is a reminder for anyone panic buying gifts (or who wants a good book to read over the next while) that I have written a YA horror series with three books so far about a team of Paranormal Investigators.
Truly the most relatable Muppet in A Muppet Christmas Carol is the one who says ‘thank you for not shouting at me’ after being physically flung from a building.
Ok I know technically it’s three days but my family do Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve so technically it’s two days for me and I am overwhelmed by cheese stress don’t expect me to know what day it is.
The Sheridan’s cheese counter in Big Dunnes two days before Christmas is not for the faint hearted.
I love this 😍😍😍
Shopping local can be choosing a small independent bookshop far away across the sea from where you are but close to the loved one you wish to gift a book to

Hello our International Readers👋🏼 Do you have people in Ireland you'd like to send a book (or three) to but are hesitating because of the price of postage and/or a concern about the parcel getting caught in Customs? We can help! >> 1/3

I’m so sorry you have to endure that, this may not help much but if you can tolerate them the Deep Heat patches (or similar brands) help me with relaxing my muscles etc and one on your neck might help ease the muscle tension a bit?
Plus ça change
I got my 2024 PLR statement today (writers get a payment each time their book is borrowed from a library) & I’m so thrilled to see so many took out What Walks These Halls & Who Watches This Place. Libraries are incredible spaces that make books accessible to everyone & I’m so grateful they exist.
Thank you for the lovely review!
Such a lovely review, thank you so much! I’m so delighted with the responses to Where The Shadows Hide 🥰👻🖤
Once again judging the layout and interiors of the multimillion dollar mansions on Selling Sunset from the couch in my parent’s house like I’m not a 35 year old adult who can’t afford my own home.
A black and white photo. Someone is sitting in a chair at a desk wearing a sheet over their head with a beanie hat with a ghost on it and a pair of glasses over the sheet. They are holding up the book Where The Shadows Hide by Amy Clarkin. What Walks These Halls and Who Watches This Place are on the desk in front of them. In spooky orange writing above and below the photo it says ‘Happy Halloween from PSI’.
Just because Halloween is over doesn’t mean you can’t keep reading spooky books… now that the evenings are longer and the sun sets earlier it’s the PERFECT atmosphere for some ghost stories. Maybe even a series of them? 👀
Writer pals, as we venture into “best of” list season, remember to focus on your other accomplishments.
That new draft, the books you’ve read to hone your craft…
Maybe the new thing you’re doing outside of writing (these are so important!)
Zero in on what you can control, and keep your head up. ❤️

I’m so thrilled (and relieved) about the reaction Èabha’s chronic illness storyline is getting from readers and reviewers. My own experience of developing a debilitating chronic illness shaped a lot of Èabha’s experience, and I’m so thrilled her story is resonating with people.
“If the paranormal elements of Dublin author Amy Clarkin's third PSI novel are multilayered, they have nothing on the complex, ever-fluctuating relationships between its diverse cast of characters.”

We’ve never seen so many Hunks in the same place!
Hollywood has long been the home of the Hunk, but there’s a new man in town and he’s got heaps of charm and an accent that’ll make you swoon.
Irish Hunks are here to stay. Find your nearest bookstore and you can bring them home with you too!
Israel has been breaking the terms of the ceasefire since the moment it started. They clearly never intended to adhere to it: it was pretence because international pressure was mounting. It is so frustrating seeing it being reported on & talked about like there’s any question to what is happening.
👀👀👀 you know me so well 🥰
