“Stick to matters of, you know, what’s going on in the Catholic Church,” Mr. Vance said on Fox New’s “Special Report with Bret Baier” when asked by Mr. Baier if he agreed with Mr. Trump’s attacks against the pope. “And let the president stick to dictating American public policy.”

It‘s a small point about wording, but interesting that J.D. Vance describes the president’s job as “dictating American public policy.”

This is a good story. And I understand why it focuses on the modern court.

Still, it's surprising/disappointing that there's no acknowledgement of the Court's role in undoing the First Reconstruction - which does provide precedent for its more recent role in undoing the Second.

Ten years ago today, in April 2016, the Boston Globe printed a satirical front page imagining a future Trump administration. The page was called "alarmist," "hyperbolic," "dystopian." But we’ve put up with so much since then it now looks like . . . a slow Thursday?

The pedantic hill I am prepared to die on is that not everything the president does is a “grift.” Most of it is actually graft.

This may be why you have serious professional people -- hmm, maybe we should call them 'diplomats' -- who work in a serious professional manner -- call them 'talks', perhaps? -- instead of a mentally-degraded dipshit tweeting deranged nonsense while he is on the toilet.

I remember a decade ago when Scott Walker had taken the Wisconsin Supreme Court and insured a red Wisconsin for the rest of our lifetimes. We can still turn things around, we can still make the America we want for everyone.

Words mean things and to call giving millions of human beings a reprieve from mass murder "chickening out" implies that carrying out this crime would be a courageous thing.

The fact that nobody seriously believes there is an institution in this country that will check the president—that we’re all just sitting here hoping that he gets distracted and fails to follow through on his genocidal threats—is the most damning indictment of our political system I’ve seen yet.

Not really interested in the debates around the merits of demerits of individual pundits instead of the issues they’re proxies for. But the idea that Favreau never lifts up voices on the left is sort of self-evidently absurd.

I do not advise that the general public watch the Tucker clip but if you’re interested in what a powerful faction on the right is being told to think, I don’t know … it’s interesting and helps you understand what’s happening on the right

Kevin is exactly right in this. As I argue in my book Through the Heart of Dixie, Sherman remained within the bounds of the laws of war. He destroyed property, not people.
