By "enough hours" what I mean is not enough hours on projects tracked compared to hours worked. Because most of my job wasn't able to be attached to a customer it looks on paper like I didn't make the company any money, which very well could have played into the decision. Either way, so much heck.
Got laid off from work today, so that's pretty cool. Most of those under me did not get marching orders but I did along with half of the staff overall, plus they fired the CFO citing extreme financial issues. Dunno if I was let go because queer or just not having hours on paper, but oh well.
My next 3d project is underway. No, you don't get to ask why I'm modelling an office with a bathroom, because sometimes the answer just isn't worth the question. I like the aesthetic though.
Had a job interview today and there might have been a train store a few blocks away. And I might have accidentally bought a new loco. And I might like how depressed and sad it looks. It needed a home, okay?!
I know less than nothing about this loco other than sharing it's depression.
That was literally the reason I've never finished that game. Just could not do the gunplay as it was janky and terrible in so many ways. Amazing game otherwise.
Another small area of the train layout decorated and filled out. It's a lil farm with utterly demented looking animal-like creatures and a gravel storage facility. Seemed like a good pairing. Need to find a dump truck for the skidsteer though. Also started on the crashed loco scene in the muskeg.
Was very excited to find these two bits of train rolling stock at the local store today. Literally the only pink car I've ever seen, and a very detailed lil blue Great Northern caboose! Heck yeah. Also grabbed an aggressive amount of trees because obviously.
And it only seems to be amplifying. I'm getting really bored of living through constant unprecedented events.
24 hours ago was t-shirt weather without a single flake of snow anywhere to be found. Tonight my luck fox outside my door is almost entirely buried (it's about 12" high). Welcome to spring in Alberta I guess.
Still have a bunch of things to do with the space, more to model and get in, but I'm really happy with it so far. All these pictures are rendered directly in the Unity editor.
Spent the last week outside of work smashing my nose into my glimmer of inspiration that is modelling a tiny lil high-end apartment in the downtown of a city. It's been a while since I've wanted to put this much effort into something creative. Modelled in #Blender3D, textured in #SubstancePainter
I found foxes for my model train layout and oh my gods are they tiny. Like so much smaller than I had expected. I love them so much.
A better response than I was expecting honestly.
It's been a while, but I finally found a scrap of creative spark, enough to model a lil retro diner scene for a very specific reason. No, I cannot link to where this is uploaded to on the Steam Workshop (IYKYK), but it will be available as a place to exist within on VRC soon if you hate yourself.
Ended up doing a bunch of decorating and lighting around the train layout today, even adding a new restaurant that my amazing wife is going to turn into an pasta/pizza place. Also found the loco body that I'm going to weather/destroy to have crashed in the bog (muskeg?). This one seems very fitting.
The ozone is how you know it's working! Reminds me of being a lil girl again and playing with slot Cars.
You're not wrong, but I kind of like how authentically jank stuff this old is. A new can and gearbox would make this loco substantially quieter and run smoother, but it has its charm for being from the 70's (I think).
Train maintenance of the day: replace the burnt out light on my lil brass loco. This one was purchased very broken and inoperable, requiring a full rebuild, including replacing even the light. Got it swapped out and put back together; good as new(ish)!
The bog section of the train layout is slowly coming together. Going to have a crashed/wrecked loco in the middle of it, so the body there now is just temporary until I start modifying one. One of these days I'll start working on the ballast for the tracks...
I would very much recommend it, even if it's just a loop, just something to satiate that train related urge. Sleep is for losers anyway.
Doing the scenery has been a bit rewarding at least though.
Heck today, heck this week, heck this year. I've had a pretty terrible time lately and I'm not okay. But at least there be trains.
I would really appreciate my creative spark to return though. I wanna art again 😿
Progress lil by lil on the train layout. Doing the perimeter first, then will be working my way inward because that seems like the wrong way to do it.
First lil bit of grass, a couple colourful trees, and a bit of "road". These grass flakes are weird to work with.
That's what we're doing, except three 4x2' sections.
Inner loop is more focused around early 1900's stuff, like the trains that built this province (kinda), and the outer loop is a more modern shipping theme (and blue!). There will be a lil city in the centre, and some industry, but I'm sure it'll be ever evolving.
Slowly expanding my layout and making it more and more fleshed out. Wife and I want it to be easily movable so we can put it away when we need to, so the 4x6' layout can be taken to bits in three parts. Next step will be grass and roads.
Every single line, every single point on the overview was incorrect and could be directly refuted by the book I was holding with just a cursory read. I'm so over every single thing I say being doubted because a guy on the floor without any experience said something different.
So that's cool. I just got a warning at work for pointing out that the print out of an AI overview slop passive aggressively dropped on my bench this morning was wrong by way of holding the actual code and law book and reading directly from it. Guess my boss thinks AI knows more than a professional
