Academic & professional organizational interviews in a hotel room were still a thing when I was a grad student. So icky imagining a woman put in that situation. How many good women candidates lost out b/c of discomfort or signs of "nerves" during the interview?
I'm thinking next shoulder of finally trying it carne adovada style: marinated in red chiles, red chile drip pan underneath, charcoal only low & slow.
Awesome you do that, & they are right to ask! We really have to do a cookout again, last year of a newborn has railroaded our ability to get the house suited for hosting.

Eek. Done in one day at least? I’m seeing if i have some sort of record for how long to finish bc of multiple days regardless of how much time actually testifying.
Now, you might say, "What about all the knowledge we'd lose if we push all the abusive geniuses out of academia?!"
But I'd counter and say, "Well, what about the knowledge we've already lost from the budding scholars whose careers they've derailed with their abuse?"

Anyone who's testified as an expert: what's the longest you've technically been on the stand, from time placed under oath to actually completing testimony?

I’ll have to go look it up but also the rejection was written like an anxious academic, something like “we are not able to move forward positively with your application” our dear unnamed applicant.
Way back I got an email re “Update on your application”: blank email with no attachment.
Later that hour another reply: blank email with no attachment.
Then another email: blank but an attachment!

My dad was pretty flexible about everything… except, as a psychiatrist, a house ban on watching anything starring a scientologist. Even if no $ went to them like a movie on basic cable, no Cruise, Travolta, Alley, etc. allowed to be seen.

This morning we had family step out our backyard & mountain bike up mountains, then carne adovada breakfast burritos, then mid-70s walk just bc. Just a great place.
Mine is coming up w/ acronyms for a grant or project. Blessing & a curse b/c now I occasionally get cold call requests from my dept to help name projects I have nothing to do with... and even if I decline, I can't turn off my brain until I come up with one!
