one time i opened a box of pasta and a medium sized bug crawled out
need a winter garment that reflects reality. what jacket makers don't understand is that i dont NEED more fluff on my torso. think of my arms. please.
Thanks for the correction, I'm relatively new to ATproto and still learning the intricacies ๐ I didn't realize that the prev pointer on commits is optional and seemingly soft-deprecated now (?)
It feels a little strange to hear that you "don't use blockchains" -- what would you call the chain of commits/blocks in a user repository, each one validating its records using a MST and validating the previous commits/blocks via cryptographic hashes?
I don't know what's more frustrating, that the new dog bed didn't come with a manual, or that he can't seem to figure out how to use it without one
aw fuck not again :/

Balance restored!
Step 1: Learn that bluesky assigns every user a mushroom when they sign up. Step 2: Create website to check assigned mushroom and learn some fun facts about it :)

Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
One side effect of handles being domain names on this webbed site is that it's going to be SO much easier to impulsively ask the owners of unused funny domains if I can use their domains for silly purposes.
Getting really fucking mad about losing daylight hours this winter. Going to kick this stupid planet into orbit. An orbit that results in more sun time for meeee :))))
Quick correction, my number actually *does* include post contents as well as media uploads. Apparently all that data *can* be consumed by my system using less than 1gb of ram and 1 cpu core.
This is measuring the direct output of the firehose API. So a few hundred bytes every time a PDS emits an event (like, follow, post, block, etc). It does not include the contents of any actual posts. I probably don't have a system that is capable of ingesting at that volume.

The collective bluesky userbase produces content at about the same rate as a twitch stream on the 1080p60 setting
latest nonsense word for referring to my dog has been "florpis". he's housetrained though.
A terminal listing out posts liked by @bsky.app
Actually it's probably a better demo to show @bsky.app's likes :P
A terminal window showing all of my liked posts
Half PSA / half me learning how this place works: likes are effectively public because, even though they don't show up as a tab on your profile, they're available via an ATProto API endpoint. Here's a small demo I threw together:
Hagfish with a birthday hat poking a few inches of its body out of a hole in the mossy seaweed floor image source: https://animals.net/hagfish/
Happy belated hagfish day to all who celebrate and all who don't. I wish joy upon hagfish lovers and haters alike. Hagfish day was last wednesday, but I didn't have an account at that point so it's hagfish time NOW #hagfish #hashtagfish
falling asleep to gentle melodies of my gamer neighbor speaking with great passion about The Giver. interspersed with inhuman grunts and moans
i put this together in like an hour or two! very very friendly API for computers to talk to :)))))
