And people were worried that his cognitive functions were declining...
Today, I am mostly enjoying the steep slope that has led from HRH to "a 66 year-old man from Norfolk".
Did you know HTEN has a website?
@justice2history.bsky.social have a new book coming out in collaboration with Katie Donnington and Nick Draper. It is now available for free download: discovery.ucl.ac.uk/id/eprint/10...

In febrile times, exploring how we prepare teachers to address SCIs feels all the more important. We're delighted Rob Kanter and @helenfcarr.bsky.social will be sharing their important work and experiences with us at the next @htenuk.bsky.social conference.
Make sure it is in your diary. 🗓️
We are at T-5 and there are a few tickets left for Teaching History in a 'Post-Truth' World. Tickets are just £15 and, in addition to hearing from the wonderful Jeremy Hayward and @corinnefowler.bsky.social, you also get entry to the BCLM (though you will have to pay for your own fish and chips!)
Yet again DfE have failed to respond to the need for a subsistence level bursary for all #ITT training teachers. Prospective applicants are facing financial barriers to entry to the profression. JOIN OUR CAMPAIGN

Not that this is even remotely the biggest issue with this, but the resource also states that it is used for teaching anti-racism, not history...
"These are not one word judgments"
This is really quite depressing - maybe I am naive or blinkered, but I cannot understand why you would choose not to introduce this.
Perhaps my favourite day in the teaching calendar: Robin Hood Prince of Thieves day, in which I get to share my favourite historical documentary with my trainees and then sadly explain why they can't use it to teach medieval history. Or English geography.
At least I didn't use a spoon.
Phew! See you tomorrow :-)
Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes... All hope is not lost, even if the pace is a little glacial.

Resharing this for new followers. Please do have a read of these articles about the history of a Muslim school in London and about the frankly absurd decisions made by the Michaela School about prayer.
Same - I expected this to be lower down the priority list.
Seems like some sort of move towards sanity and positive that the DfE has actually responded to feedback.
This is why I get REALLY annoyed when people choose him as a guest for their dream dinner party.

@htenuk.bsky.social Committee members, this is a little pre-half term reminder that we have an HTEN Committee Meeting on Tuesday November 5, 2024, 09:30 AM.
An email should be on its way soon.
We are very excited about our first conference of the 2024.25 academic year which will be held on Wednesday 27th November. Emails will be dropping into members' inboxes shortly (look out for our new outlook email address in case it lands in your junkmail) with log in details.
Same! I mentioned it to my PGCE group recently, comparing it to the ultimate Robin Hood (Prince of Thieves, obvs), and none of them had heard of it! I know this shouldn't be shocking but it is.
Incredible keynotes from UCL's Alison Kitson and @danlyndon.bsky.social of @1972shp.bsky.social at the Midlands History Forum Conference this morning. We are delighted that so many people made the journey to the Black Country Living Museum this morning for what is turning out to be a fantastic day.
Agree! It's a bit weird given that the teacher quoted in the article seems to have used the morning for life admin and self-care rather than sleeping.
