Someday they’ll study this show and how it bucks trends, I swear. The main people I hear watching it are middle aged moms. It’s gotten tons of people into the manga/anime. They have a plan for whenever they get canceled or if they get to keep going.

An underrated quality of Netflix’s One Piece adaptation is that it’s truly an international show for international audiences, as opposed to the usual “American production for Americans and whoever else I guess”.

I’m sorry but this game should be fun, and post rotation looks VERY very fun! The only reason you’re not playing it is you center this hobby around regionals and not enjoying the game/getting better in general! That is not how I want to be! I’m just telling into the wind here, I know 😔
I really need to find/build a regular Pokémon TCG community in my area from the ground up. Everyone I usually play with is a regionals grinder and not willing to just come over and test at someone’s apartment for fun.

Agreed with this take. It’s kind of remarkable how doing a podcast for five years about your old show makes you intimately familiar with it such that you can reboot it decades later like nothing changed. And it kinda slaps?

and now I’m reading all the Dune book summaries.

Broke my “retirement” from Pokemon TCG to attend a Perfect Order prerelease and pulled an SIR! Now I shall return to my hiding hole with my Ultraman-ass expensive Starmie card until rotation in April…

Boy, this sure seems stupid.
I can’t tell what’s more cosmically frustrating: when the gym makes you feel better after a bad day, or when it doesn’t. Either way we are at the whims of chemicals and endorphins in our body, it’s just that sometimes “doing the good thing” doesn’t make you feel good.
But for real, rituals matter so much. We do a lengthy @chatzpod.bsky.social episode on them that comes out the day of the ceremony, I host an Oscars party with snacks and prediction ballots. When the world is at its most oppressive and isolating, it means a lot to have this one thing come back.
Best part of late winter is cozying up and watching Oscar Best Picture nominees, hands down. The snow and cold can’t get me, I have ten weird long movies to watch over the course of two months and pretend I’m smart enough to understand ☺️
