Look at this delightful pocket sized e-reader, it's about as big as a small calculator. Flashed it with the Crosspoint Reader firmware, patched with Sanskrit diacritics support.

It's really sad that this essential public good is treated like a private business and forced to fund itself. USPS is good for small business and good for America, it should be subsidized with taxes!

The BBS is back! I set up a #meshtastic node with a BBS system, much like the classic electronic bulletin board systems of the 1980s. Instead of dialup you access it with a tiny mesh radio!

If you want to try it send a Meshtastic DM to node !8488880c

Then your plan A is better. Get a small Hetzner VPS and claim your public IP.

Having an IP that stays put for a while is helpful. Mine only seems to rotate during long power outages.

OpenClaw is a bit like the v1 Roomba. It's terribly inefficient, but requires no human assistance. Let it run and it'll eventually finish the job.

These AI agents are incredible at technical grunt work. Writing tests, combing through PDF files, running electronics through the QA gauntlet.

The cringe factor on LinkedIn is high. The algorithm seems to reinforce that preachy style of post. It's the text version of Christian evangelical sermons but for business.

This was a fun little project where I used games to teach Claude Code to work completely autonomously. I play the game, put my feedback in a github issue, and walk away. 10-15 minutes later I get a ping on my phone showing the issues were fixed. It's kind of amazing and scary how good Claude Code is

A raised bed garden covered in 20 inches of snow.

The snowstorm from January 25th completely entombed these raised beds creating little igloos. The outside temperature is 3°F, but inside the raised bed it's a cozy 21.3°F (-6°C). This year's experimental winter greens include lettuce and arugula and herbs like catnip, Italian parsley, and oregano.

CircuitPython - CoreS3 SE ESP32S3 IoT Download CoreS3 SE is a streamlined version of the third-generation M5Stack Core series. Powered by the ESP32-S3, it features a dual-core Xtensa LX7 processor running at 240MHz with built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetoot...

Got my first board approved for @circuitpython.org:
circuitpython.org/board/m5stac...

The process was easy and the automated test gates let me know exactly what I needed to fix before approval.

Everything works but the SD card which needs some upstream fixes before it can be functional.

Claude Code writes the code and flashes the device, and it can even read logs and diagnostic data from the serial port!

No IDE required. 🤯

A map of the United States showing freezing temperators as far south as Texas.

A map of the United States showing freezing temperators as far south as Texas.

What causes these blobs of cold to reach so far south? The arctic polar vortex is normally like a fast-spinning top. As the earth warms up the top starts to get wobbly.

Some names for the blob include:

Arctic Outbreak
Sudden Stratospheric Warming
Bomb Cyclone
Daughter Vortices
