Anatomy moths up for tattoo grabz too!
Poor things I keep forgetting telling that they are available as designs as well!
An incredibly heartfelt thanks to the members of the committee for their confidence in me to lead as Chair. I'm looking forward to supporting the group however I can.
Three carved pumpkins with glowing faces are on a stone step. The central white pumpkin has a spooky smile with tooth-pick teeth and gooey pumpkin insides spilling out. The other two pumpkins have black marker squiggles and doodles all over.
Pumpkin carving ended up going over great. Some of our pumpkins got some sick tattoos thanks to the kid going nuts with the sharpie. A great addition! 🎃
the GBFC is hosting a MapMission to gather info on accessible places in Guelph in partnership with Art Not Shame! Come check it out next week!

Thumbelina and Jaquimo lay on a rock ledge surrounded by large, dandelions under a purple and blue twilight sky with floating seeds.
poor Thumbelina really does just get harassed by insecure men the entire movie, eh? 😂 Still, a great movie, perfect pacing for kids. Also, I really don't think there's enough love for the songs in this one. Some of the most iconic and gorgeous backgrounds by @donbluth.bsky.social and his team.
new med adjustment periods are the worst... I never know how transparent to be about it if it's a struggle (and this time it is). Usually 2 weeks is what I need, but it's a real crash to the confidence when you're feeling useless and nervous about results in that time
Hey, good Americans: elbows up, buds ❤️
Everybody out here using Letterboxd and I can't figure out why it's so popular because the UX on that site is atrocious 😫
“Where to Put Focus When Opening a Modal Dialog”

TL;DR: blanket statements about where to put focus when opening a modal dialog are wrong, including this one.

Living for the colour in this panel. It's like a warm hug for my brain.
Can't sleep so here are my thoughts on PDFs. They are useful in limited situations but overused. Accessibility peeps know how inaccessible they are by default. Many orgs shouldn't use them due to regular edits of the document content and would be better off using HTML, EPUB, etc.

Update on the bee situation: one got stuck between the screen and the window for a day. I got it out today without hurting it and gave it a big drink of sugar water. He's fine. 🐝
Why do bumblebees love my sunroom? They keep trying to get in. Then they get in and they want out. Do I need to install a bumblebee door as well as my cat door? 🐝
The cover of How to Kill a witch: a guide for the patriarchy by Claire Mitchell and Zoe Venditozzi the witches of Scotland
The book cover without the dust jacket featuring the witches of Scotland tartan pattern with panels of black with grey, red, and pink
The inner page addressed to Meg and signed by the witches of Scotland
This book is dedicated to the people, mostly women, who were accused, tortured and executed as witches, and those who still face those unfounded accusations today.
It came!! @clairekc.bsky.social and Zoe Venditozzi thank you so much!

I haven't seen a movie as good as Sinners in a long time. Wow. Easily my new favourite vampire movie. It may be my new favourite movie... Ever... Man. So amazing!! If you haven't seen it, definitely check it out!
I'm here if you need to vent 💜
It's an incredibly sad thing to see steps back like this. The city has work to do and it's going to be noticeably more difficult now.
A circular diagram titled “The Inaccessibility Cycle” shows a cycle of systemic exclusion faced by disabled people. At the top, the cycle starts with “Inaccessibility”, leading to “Disabled people unable to participate”, then to “Disabled people not visible in public”. Next, it states “Disabled people seen as outlier/rarity”, followed by “‘So there’s little/no need to consider them’”, which loops back to “Inaccessibility.” In the background, there is a faint wheelchair symbol.
I don't know if you've ever listened to your alt text with a screen reader but my god, it's so perfect 😂
A hanging branch with small buds all covered in a thick layer of ice.
Bare branches with small thorns all covered in a thin layer of ice.
A bush with bare branches and small red berries is covered in a thick layer of ice.
Some pictures from the #IceStorm aftermath this morning. #Ontario ❄️
Me: there's a bear in this movie!
Kid: oh. I don't like bears.
Me: oh, really?
Kid: yeah. But I like monsters and spiders though! And snakes.
Me: you're the coolest.
Seriously. I need to be better about it! I usually just keep a pair in my bag 🤔
Deque scrubbed its axe-con talk — with its goal of 100% coverage in automated WCAG testing — from YouTube and its event page with no acknowledgment that I’ve seen.
I captured slides, transcript, and YouTube chat, but not video itself (anchor):

It's interesting to think as an autistic person I've gone so long without small personal accommodations in the name of performing "normally". I tend to not wear my earplugs in public... But moments like now? I really need to do better to be kind to myself about it. It's so much easier to function.
Literally just finished the new tattoo and I'm already planning the next. The ink addiction is no joke, kids.
There is a specific sense of professional struggle I feel when I'm learning new things and advancing. It's the professional "level up" and it comes with a lot of imposter syndrome and feeling like I'm bad at my job. I'll get there. But the level up is a rough one.
During my #AxeCon talk I had a slide quoting @timothysnyder.bsky.social reading "Do Not Obey in Advance." In the chat someone wrote: "With regard to not opening in advance, there are other ways to #resist. Here's a WW2 era manual on resisting authoritarians www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/26184...
