I think a lot of it was about you, too.
But,hey,it doesn't matter.
I've unpinned all my Wülferhampton feeds & I'll be more wary about engaging in future.
I sincerely hope you all still enjoy your little games.
So long & thanks for all the Tish
Posts by SiDeeply, the fallout is coming.
I'm done.
I was merely trying to defend my desire to give my kids & our neighbours kids an evening to remember.
If it wasn't for them I wouldn't have even purchased one firework.
But I wouldn't be trying to stop others
& I still wouldn't have voted Reform, or have been a wanker,or a killjoy.
Actually I just responded to claims of nervousness, etc.
I said my animals weren't bothered, and I've no way of providing counselling to other creatures, great or small.
I know, let's have a 'CANCEL SI DAY'.
If it makes you all happy, go the fuck ahead
Utterly pathetic.
For clarity, I'm bored with this, & not with you.
We disagree, & that's fine.
I've already be called 'Si the Knob' consequently, which was a little low, IMO, but says everything I need to know.
I didn't realise people collected followers like trading cards,or badges.
How childish.
& IMO, if you think that unfollowing people is somw sort of tool, then you are, by definition, an utter tool.
I don't follow people that I always agree with.
Can't people disagree on something & yet agree on other things?
Unfollow if you must.
I'm not collecting followers.
That seems daft.
Most people aren't doing that.
It's a handful of idiots.
Or bored teenagers, who'll probably be complaining themselves in 2050.
Ahh,the personal insult brigade has arrived, right on cue.
How quaint.
Both our pubs show the football, it's a nice little earner.
I'm not going to drive to another just for a beer, which would be unlawful anyway.
It wasn't a comparison, it was an example of how we must sometimes endure things we find a bit annoying.
You mentioned banning things, & like I said, a ban is moot without enforcement.
I keep reiterating that ,but if you find it boring perhaps that's on you.
To be honest I was bored with it by the second post last night, but I've been made to defend my stance, & I stand by it.
Why ever not?
Don't tar everyone with the same brush.
For most people it's a one off event, once a year, & they should be free to enjoy that.
You'll never stop idiots being idiotic, not with bans, not with draconian laws.
But I maintain that most people act responsibly.
NB.
I'll put up with absolutely everything, tbh.
But if it caused damage to my property, or possessions I'd be obliged to respond in a forthright manner.
If you ban something it must be enforced, otherwise the ban is pointless....
I just put up with it.
It seems like they're having fun & it's not for me to complain.
Tolerance is the way.
I absolutely know what you mean & I honestly sympathise with you regarding your idiot neighbour, but let's not decend into a morass of banning everything we don't like.
I fucking hate going to the pub & having football on with people shouting about a game I've no interest in.
But I want a beer.
So there's the nub of it.
We let off bangers as teens & I assure you that if we could have got bigger, louder things we'd have done that, too.
A friend was American, his folks were at a local Airbase, but they lived off site & he'd get proper Cherry Bombs.
Did we think twice about legality?
Nope.
I'm not 'right' but I'm also not wrong.
I really don't care what other folk get up to, even if it means I must grit my teeth.
How do you think police could find time to deal with enforcement?
We had a knife incident last summer & it took an hour to respond.
They wouldn't turn up fir a few bangs
Look.
We've had people, teenagers most likely, letting of fireworks randomly since September, it's what they do & they run off, pissing themselves laughing.
Then probably sit in the park & huff nitrous ,& blaze their super strength weed.
But I can't be hypocritical and say I didn't at that age.
How do you know that?
I could drive into town right now and purchase an enormous firework, that would be perfectly legitimate to own & use.
Some of these things seem like they shouldn't be available to the general public, but they are.
Like I said last night, the display I attended on Saturday, organised by a football club- & a source of revenue for them - was very very loud, and received many complaints.
They'd engaged a professional company to do the display, but I think every cow in 2 square miles would have been trembling.
I've a half acre garden,so that helps.
And we aimed the rockets away from village, because we're responsible people.
I can't speak for anyone else, but I still believe most people are responsible.
You always get idiots who won't be, but you can't stop people enjoying themselves because of them
I wasn't trying to demean you,at all,& I think we really think the same thing, but our circumstances mean we take a different approach.
My kids wanted fireworks & who am I to deny that?
Your neighbour seems to be a twat.
I'm a very confrontational person & I'd have definitely got my money back.
I'm a mile or two, as the crow flies, from Santa Pod, & I live under a flight path, too.
You'll not be surprised to know that others complain about the noise from both.
Some of those people bought homes here, fully aware of the existence of drag racing & aircraft noise & still feel the need to moan.
Well, they'll definitely wake my kids up at about 10pm on their way home.
It's does happen, occasionally.
& yes, there's quite a lot of noisy bikes,of various vintages.
I love to see them, being a former biker.
I was really just saying that people will complain about bloody anything.
I said last night that a lot of the property near me are thatch,& we have to be careful.
Oddly, those properties that are more likely to be burning wood in their hearth, putting themselves at greater risk than our display ever would.
I don't complain about their smoke blowing through my windows.
I line my litter trays in such a way that my cats get an opportunity to crap on the face of a gallery of politicians.
The Telegraph is the best because its still broadsheet.
It give me great pleasure & my cats great relief.
But you seem convinced it was him.
Did you confront the man & demand he coughs up?
Because I would.
Relentlessly.
If he'd have burned your house would you be reluctant to prosecute?
I think banning anything should always be the last resort.
Otherwise we'll all be at perpetual loggerheads.
I'll say this.
Next week, at the same venue as firework display there's a motorcycle meet,& riders will be blatting through the village on all manner of bikes.
The 'let's ban loud motorcycles' brigade will be out in force on Facebook & elsewhere.
The meet is a weekly event, as is the derision.
Oh, I don't see it as grief, only an affirmation of what I've already said.
If you check, there was at least 3 people who conflated Reform/fireworks.
Nobody mentioned the poster in my window, of Mr Farage, upon which I've scrawled rather detrimental invective.
I'm fairly upfront about my loathing of him.
Oh, I'm absolutely certain that 2 of my neighbours are right wing, one nation Tories, but we didn't stand around debating politics.
We put those matters to one side & just enjoyed ourselves.
It's perfectly possible to be kind & friendly towards people who's politics you don't agree with.
