Napheesa Collier what the hell.

Dallas Mavericks summer league box score highlighting R. Nembhard
@codyhoudek.bsky.social ROOKIE NEMBHARD?
I strongly disagree. A key part of being a great coach is knowing how to handle egos and personalities, and Phil was incredible at this as shown through managing some of the most famous egos in history.
The Pacers are just the third team seeded No. 4 or lower to take a lead in the NBA Finals after three games … and the first to do so since the sixth-seeded (and eventual champion) Houston Rockets in 1995.
On the broadcast, they said that 34 is the most TOVs from a team in a single Finals game. I'm seeing the Warriors with 36 in this 1975 Finals matchup against the Bullets though. Maybe I'm missing something, but it looks like 36 is the record.

The only other 30-10-10 and 0 TOV game in playoff history is Baron Davis back in 2002.

A reigning NBA Champion hasn't made it past the second round of the playoffs since the Warriors in 2019.
The Wolves are currently on track to score fewer points than either of these teams.
Did I dream the end of the Pacers/ Cavs game, or did all that actually happen?
I’m sorry to hear that CCL didn’t do it for you! I found its perspective on the purpose of each human story to be touching and, frankly, rejuvenating. Have you read other Doerr like All the Light? I also consider it to be masterfully written, but I just connected with the scope of CCL more.
The first novel I can recall using that method is Faulkner’s As I Lay Dying, but that’s just across a single family in maybe one day? These modern books push the boundaries of nonlinear storytelling in that way.
As for a modern aesthetic, I see it as multiple narrators across multiple timelines. A Visit from the Goon Squad, Station 11, and Cloud Cuckoo Land (which is my current favorite novel of the decade) all weave together these intimate accounts revolving around the same idea, event, etc.
I also see it as a modern Odyssey, but the twist is that Demon has no home to return to. I guess he introduces the idea of the ocean at the beginning (interestingly the setting that keeps Odysseus from home), but it’s certainly a play on the hero’s journey.
All the characters are just so alive too
The strength of the novel is in Kingsbury’s 1st person voice. She brings Demon to life through 500 pages, and it never dulls which is impressive considering the years and circumstances differences. To me, it’s in the same sort of tradition as The Catcher in the Rye where you know the prot. so well.
James is also amazing. I’ve been a fan of Everett’s for a bit, so it’s cool to see him employ this retelling project he’s into in such a brilliant way.
Interesting. What about it doesn’t seem “English Prof-y”?
Isn’t the point that the opioid epidemic is all consuming? It’s a modern-day Odyssey where the monsters and trials are the people and society decimated by this drug.
Have the Bucks had the worst playoff injury luck this decade?
2021: Giannis somehow comes back from a knee injury
2022: Middleton sprains his MCL
2023: Giannis back injury
2024: Giannis calf injury
2025: Lillard blood clot/ Achilles injury
JJ Redick just became the first coach in the play-by-play era to play five players for all 24 minutes of a half in the playoffs.
James, Doncic, Reaves, Hachimura & Finney-Smith played the entire second half today.
Basketball rocks.
Mitch Hedburg punching the air right now
Here's how much the Thunder have dominated the Grizzlies this year
-Thunder record: 6-0
-Average margin of victory: 24.2 points
-Their "closest" game (Feb. 8) is one where they never trailed for the last 47 minutes
-Led by at least 21 points in every game
7 games of Nuggets/Clippers, please!
This is awesome!! I really appreciate you putting this all together.
You rock.

@thinkingbasketball.bsky.social I posted this on the discord but it went by pretty quickly, but I was inspired to make a website for tracking the thinkies!

I appreciate the comments! We have our playoff preview pod still coming, so we’ll see where he and I ultimately land on Houston.
To be honest, I really enjoy them and want defensively slanted teams having a lot of success! I’m still working through my thoughts about them.
I don’t know anything about other sports besides the NBA, but Walt Frazier comes to mind.
Mission accomplished
Do you mean an individual player’s on-court offensive and defensive rating? Or do you mean the BBall ref iteration of the stat?
I find the former quite valuable.
