Three panel comic. Panel 1: a green heron points to the ski excitedly while a space shuttle flies away. The heron says, “the humans are all leaving! Panel 2: the heron continues, “we can finally enjoy the unaltered beauty of the earth!” Panel 3: the heron stands smiling. Behind it a group of beavers wearing hard hats and safety gear are building a giant log structure. Two of them are looking at a blueprint, another in the back is using a chainsaw.

Soda (comics) - Wikipedia

The scenario is by Tome (not “Tomé”), and I _think_ the art we see here is by Gazzotti (this series, Soda, had 3 illustrators) 🙂

Cette BD qu’on avait à la maison était tellement traumatisante, pour l’ado que j’étais.
C’est un peu chaud non, d’exposer ses élèves à ça ? C’est une sacrée oeuvre, bien sûr, mais c’est tellement noir ! 😅

We’re building a new static type checker for Python, from scratch, in Rust.

From a technical perspective, it’s probably our most ambitious project yet. We’re about 800 PRs deep!

It was really valuable for me to stay at a single company long enough to live with the consequences of my own engineering decisions. To come face-to-face with my own technical debt.

It takes a few years for this to play out but IMO it's an important part of engineering growth.

Can LLMs write better code if you keep asking them to “write better code”? Most coders want AI to write code faster: I want AI to write FASTER CODE.

New year, new blog post: I had a random question, what happens when LLMs are prompted to write better code, again and again? Do they actually write better code? The answer is yes*! minimaxir.com/2025/01/writ...

Part of maturing as an engineer is recognizing the difference between "thing you would do differently" and "thing you should comment on during code review"

ZakuChess ♞ - A daily chess challenge with pixel art units Play chess with character(s) - a chess game with pixel art units, with a new challenge every day.

🙋‍♂️
My day job is 100% Django, and I also use it for all my side projects - whether it’s my open source “chess with pixel art characters” project zakuchess.com or even my blog, deployed to GH Pages as static assets from a Django base 🙂
I worked with many stacks during my career, but Django’s my fave 💚
