I've gained some weight, mostly in the middle. I'm wearing my usual v-neck sweater but over a button down shirt that must be 2 sizes too small, it feels like a girdle. But I like it. It's like being hugged all day by someone you don't have to talk to

DEMOCRACY DEFENDERS: Are there big corporations enabling Ice or the Trump administration that can be targeted/hurt financially by a boycott—withholding purchases from their specific stores this Christmas season?

A fragile line between human and beast emerges as I watch a table full of adults continually, yet nonchalantly, swat flies as they eat.

I vacillate between extreme confidence and severe apprehension, my default being somewhere in between which is awkward for everybody nearby

Agreed. But in this case, I think that sophomoric inappropriate behavior helps them to not be easily categorized and dismissed by Maga as ‘woke’ or left-wing. Because they do it to everyone. Which I think gives them more impact and power. In this situation

Seldom scene artistic courage these days. This type of uncompromising flex can b incredibly powerful and if it lessens the collective fear of other creators just a touch, that's where movements gain momentum. I will confess, the moment his glistening tiny reed of a penis appeared gave me great hope.

I'm at a cafe wearing headphones and I suddenly sneeze and look up, meeting eyes with a guy across the way and I softly say thanks/nod thinking maybe he said god bless you and then he subtly shakes his head no -- like he didn't say it. That just happened. I shrugged back and life continues on.

The woman working the register asked me if I wanted a side of tomatoes or home fries with my eggs and I said, "how about a side of none of your business" and the cafe line erupted into laughter.*
*All true except for me saying that or anyone else being in line.

This was the day after the Women's March in 2017. Staggering difference.

New York Times front page, January 22, 2017. The top headline reads "DEFIANT YET JUBILANT VOICES FLOOD U.S. CITIES." The lead photo is a group of protesters, mostly in pink hat, with a big red sign of a female gender symbol with a raised fist in the middle of the circle at the center. Other smaller photos from marches across the U.S. sit in the lower-middle part of the page.

Day after the Women's March, for reference, the Times went with a big photo and multiple small ones and had that take up most of the "above-the-fold" area.

To the world:
We are fighting back. Our movement has been silenced by the media here—but we are not backing down. This is what our streets looked like across multiple cities. Tomorrow, there will be more of us! Raise a glass to freedom.
