Opening text of a thread by Palantir from X Because we get asked a lot. The Technological Republic, in brief. 1. Silicon Valley owes a moral debt to the country that made its rise possible. The engineering elite of Silicon Valley has an affirmative obligation to participate in the defense of the nation. 2. We must rebel against the tyranny of the apps. Is the iPhone our greatest creative if not crowning achievement as a civilization? The object has changed our lives, but it may also now be limiting and constraining our sense of the possible. 3. Free email is not enough. The decadence of a culture or civilization, and indeed its ruling class, will be forgiven only if that culture is capable of delivering economic growth and security for the public. 4. The limits of soft power, of soaring rhetoric alone, have been exposed. The ability of free and democratic societies to prevail requires something more than moral appeal. It requires hard power, and hard power in this century will be built on software.
Palantir put out a 22-point summary of their CEO's book The Technological Republic. It's pitched as a defence of the West, but if you read it through the VDA framework, verification, deliberation, accountability, what it's actually doing looks rather different.

KASUBHAI, United States District Judge: Unserious leaders are unsafe. There is nothing more serious than our leaders' dedication to the rule of law so that we might maintain the integrity of our constitutional democracy. This case highlights a leader's unserious regard for the rule of law. This case demonstrates how disregard for the rule of law does not merely result in an abstract infraction. Rather, and tragically, this case is one of a long list of examples of how a leader's wanton disregard for the rule of law causes very real harm to very real people.
“Unserious leaders are unsafe” is a fucking banger though
Exactly one year ago today:
A crowd of people in MAGA hats.
“And they shall wear the mark of the beast on their foreheads…”
IMPORTANT: Under federal law, it's very hard, at times near-impossible, to sue federal law enforcement officers for civil rights violations. But legal theorists have said for decades that there is a possible way to sue under state law instead.
This is a VERY big test case.
Credit to the Block family for selling to the non-profit Banner at a discount. They were offered significantly more by a for-profit chain that would have further gutted the paper. They saw what rhe Banner is doing in Maryland and opted for civic responsibility.
They wept with us, when she passed. It wasn’t just a job, to them. During Covid, we couldn’t visit, those women were the only family my mom had. I can’t even think of them, without tears.
I think it’s a situation where there are no right and no wrong answers.
For us, for my mom, memory care was the only safe path, beyond a certain point.
Same here.
They were almost all immigrant women. The vilification of these incredible women, and other immigrants like them, makes me as angry at the current administration as the cuts to Alzheimer’s funding.
By a bizarre coincidence, it’s an actually a friend you know. Kevin Smith dropped that pearl on me.
Im not trying to be name-droppy by mentioning it was him who said it, you know how writers are about proper credit. I don’t need the union on my ass.
I was lucky and had a friend put it better. He said that my mom had swaddled me in love when I couldn’t speak, didn’t know who I was, and was at my most vulnerable. Now, we were doing the same for her.
It helped me.
But, by and large, if you haven’t been there, you’ll never really understand.
That’s how it was for us, with my mom. She hadn’t been able to speak in 5-6 years. Couldn’t walk.
It had stripped everything from her piece by piece, until her heart finally just forgot how to beat - and there was mercy in that.
I’m still processing the anger, and the guilt. It’s brutal.
Today marks exactly 2 years since I lost my mom to Alzheimer’s, but, that number feels so misleading. The truth is, it’s been almost 10 years since she was gone - it just took a while for her body to follow.
They tried to do the same thing to hip-hop.
Alex Jones C @RealAlexJones X.com I have made it very clear that I no longer support Trump and I'm very thankful to him for making it clear that I have nothing to do with him. The new Trump is a rotting husk of the old Trump. I hope 47 enjoys Mark Levine being his spirit animal.. Alex Jones

This administration is the most openly racist administration since Wilson invited the KKK to the White House.
Today, we acknowledge the transition of a foundational architect of Hip Hop culture, Afrika Bambaataa. As the founder of the Universal Zulu Nation, Afrika Bambaataa helped shape the early identity of Hip Hop as a global movement rooted in peace, unity, love, and having fun. His vision transformed the Bronx into the birthplace of a culture that now reaches every corner of the world. Through his music, leadership, and influence, he contributed to the foundation of Hip Hop’s core principles, inspiring generations of MCs, DJs, breakers, and cultural leaders. His imprint on Hip Hop history is undeniable and will forever remain part of the culture’s origin story. At the same time, we recognize that his legacy is complex and has been the subject of serious conversations within our community. As an organization committed to truth, accountability, and the preservation of Hip Hop culture, we believe it is important to hold space for all voices while continuing to uplift what empowers and protects the people. Today, we extend our condolences to all who were impacted by his life, his work, and his presence. Hip Hop was built on truth, and through truth the culture continues to grow, heal, and evolve. Rest in Power Bam. Respectfully, Hip Hop Alliance Rev. Dr. Kurtis Blow Walker Executive Director

Can't tell you how many members of Congress who *at best* had nothing to say when I asked about the Minab girls school attack. There is a profanely cold detachment inside Capitol Hill, a mode completely unrecognizable to common human decency I wish I could properly convey to you.
They oversaw a very important social media influence operation for the Kremlin, got caught, fled. And now they're not just back, they're guests at Donald & Melania Trump's Easter Egg Roll at the White House.

It bothers me that there seems to be no public discussion about the possibility that Iran strikes back, with attacks on civilians in the US.
I don’t understand why we’re so confident it won’t happen.
If a foreign country blew up an elementary school in the US, we’d be coming back HARD.
Constitutional lawyer here. I don't think it would violate the Constitution for the VP/Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment, but the intended constitutional remedy for this behavior is impeachment & removal. The fact that that remedy is politically impossible is a scandal and a crisis.
