Mirrored bar plot showing the distribution of estimated probabilities for different terms, for US and UK respondents. Will happen is ranked most likely, and almost no chance is least likely. Points highlight the median which are identical for both groups except for may/might happen and highly likely where US medians are higher.

A really fun dataset for this week's #TidyTuesday, looking at how people interpret different probabilistic statements ๐Ÿ“Š

There's so many aspects of this to visualise, but I decided make some barcode plots comparing how people from the UK and US responded!

Dealing with continuous variables and modelling non-linear associations in healthcare data: practical guide Proper handling of continuous variables is crucial in healthcare research, for example, within regression modelling for descriptive, explanatory, or predictive purposes. However, inadequate methods ar...

Not about age specifically, but this paper came out today looking at modelling non-linear associations: www.bmj.com/content/390/... highlighting the pros and cons of various approaches.

Estimating hypothetical estimands with causal inference and missing data estimators in a diabetes trial case study ABSTRACT. The ICH E9 addendum on estimands in clinical trials provides a framework for precisely defining the treatment effect that is to be estimated, but

Finally finished the Children series by @aptshadow.bsky.social. The scale and depth of the ideas in these books was astonishing, and expressed with remarkable clarity. Will take a long time for all of the ideas to slowly percolate. We definitely went on an adventure. Wonderfully ambitious SciFi.

I have some refs below that I use as a reviewer, responding to reviewers, and as a stat methods collaborator. This information is not unique, many statisticians have posted similar lists (such as Andrew Althouse discourse.datamethods.org/t/reference-...) but hopefully can still be helpful. 1/n
