we got NFL Sunday Ticket when we signed up for FIOS and it's mostly unused because of the "no local games" policy
being able to watch the Ravens win on network TV while watching the Bengals and Steelers lose at the same time on YouTube is pretty great
Through circumstances, we have come into possession of a pepperoni and mushroom pizza from Vincent's (of Pittsburgh)
Another low key highlight from the Maryland Cycling Classic yesterday was the chunk of the men's race where the leader was a dude named McNulty
I watched the Maryland Cycling Classic from ~7 different spots today and Roland & 36th in Hampden was my favorite.
This is the men's peloton on their third lap, bombing down Roland on their way back from Northern Parkway. Doing around 45mph here.
Saw a support minivan catch air on the 4th lap.
Yeah! Those streets are brutal.
Maybe the problem is I'm not sprinting over them?
Maryland Cycling Classic has started!
Women's event is in their second of four laps.
Race is streaming on YouTube: www.youtube.com/live/2ZLyBkS...
I am excited for the Maryland Cycling Classic, but I have to believe drivers are going to lose their shit
I live in Baltimore City in a 100 year old house and I now have fiber Internet. ๐คฉ
It is difficult to give enough context to explain how monumental this feels. Been so long in coming.
Jones Falls creeping up on Meadow Mill
yo! I got one from pretty close to that angle, too.
I rode to the gym and it was high, rode back a couple hours later and it was a foot higher.
Spooky to have that much water moving where it's not supposed to.
Jones Falls River touching the side of the White Hall Mill building
splashing against the side of White Hall Mill
and down at Art With a Heart in Falls Rd
Jones Falls River as high as I've ever seen it near the Meadow Mill building.
went to a legit Sichuan Chinese restaurant this weekend and am learning about / enjoying "numb spiciness", a completely new food experience.
Red Pepper Bistro in Towson, definitely recommend
a wall with a big old Unicode shrug emoji painted on it
still running into no emoji-having font packs IRL
taking the day to do a long ride on the c&o canal trail, starting in DC.
finishing a book I've been meaning to read for a while, "On Tyranny", on the train.
very good. feels settling in this moment.
"cured of the desire [to experience joy]" is a phenomenal take.
feels like it sees the human need to entertain and be entertained, together with other people, as a disease. oof.
So Cuomo ran the classic "everyone else but me sucks" campaign while the others ran more inclusive and cooperative campaigns.
Also, Cuomo lost in spite of support from the outsider-billionaire donor class and they lost again, which many consider to be a promising sign.
This way of voting means that a less popular third flavor like pistachio can't win because the two more popular flavors split votes between them.
An interesting effect is that candidates could cross-promote instead of relying exclusively on tearing each other down.
"top-n" is not very ELI5 of me.
Instead of asking everyone at the birthday party, "which ice cream is best?", they asked "what are the 3 best ice creams?"
This meant that someone who likes chocolate and vanilla could mark them both down instead of having to pick one.
Big difference from the elections we're used to is it was a ranked choice ballot rather than the more traditional first-past-the-post.
Voters listed their top-n choices ordered by preference and rank is awarded to candidates based on how they appear across all ballots.

that sounds ironic or not earnest.
-> this rocks, y'all rock, I'm glad you're putting this energy into Baltimore ๐๐ป

At this point, I believe the suggestion that "we're replacing people with AI" is cover for financial trouble and quiet layoffs.
There's a meta-narrative / feedback loop that makes it both a safe public statement and a profitable marketing claim.
"We are an AI company now! (please clap)"

it was the thing!
I had to scroll all the way down to find this again because "has demand for 15" really stuck with me
Thank you!
Two guys in jiu jitsu gis, both are smiling. The one on the left has a black belt, I'm on the right, wearing my new blue belt.
My instructor surprised me with my blue belt on Tuesday.
I've been training BJJ a little over two years, three times a week.
Progress for myself, on myself, feels really meaningful right now.
