Democratic lawmakers have been trying to raise PA’s minimum wage. but have been blocked by Republican leadership in the Senate, who won’t bring the legislation up for a vote. More than half a million workers in PA earn less than $15/hour, and they need the Senate to act!

So excited to be heading to Harrisburg PA on TAX DAY April 15th for a morning event at the Capitol and then a screening of Death & Taxes at the Midtown Cinema at 7PM. with @pennpolicycenter.bsky.social, @affordablepa.bsky.social and @momsrising.org @itep.org #taxes
For Our Common Wealth is bringing legislators, advocates, and constituents to call on PA to do better! At a time when working families are paying more than their fair share, we’re lifting up a simple truth: a responsible budget requires fair taxes. @pennsyltogether.bsky.social
A map of counties in Pennsylvania, showing the logos of the local public transit agency in each county - every county has a logo in it. text reads “Transit funding affects all of us. PA’s 53 transit systems serve over 1 million passengers every day in every single one of the state’s 67 counties.”
Think transit funding is just an issue for major cities? Think again! PA has 53 transit systems that serve people in every single county.
Transit is essential to daily life and economic opportunity across Pennsylvania.

Title is “Public transit is a lifeline for communities across Pennsylvania.” There’s an illustration of a bus, and text reads “Transit connects people to jobs, health care, education, community, and essential services. But our systems are increasingly strained.. Did you know? Nearly 20% of Pennsylvanians cannot drive, and over 100,000 rural Pennsylvanians live in households without a car.” Larger text reads “Last year, transit funding was a key issue in state budget negotiations. What has Governor Shapiro proposed for transit in the 2026-27 budget?”
Public transit is a lifeline for people across PA, connecting people to jobs, healthcare, and community.
Last year, transit funding was a major debate in state budget negotiations.
So…what has Gov. Shapiro suggested for transit in his proposed 2026-27 state budget?

Tax Day should be about what’s possible when we all contribute our fair share. But instead, billionaires & big corporations are pushing for more tax breaks, while working people face growing threats to freedoms, healthcare, and democracy.
On April Fools’ Day, join us in Wilkes-Barre to expose the real joke: a tax system rigged for billionaires while working families pay the price. Turns out the punchline isn’t very funny. www.mobilize.us/democracypa/...
The Trump admin hit workers with a health care double-whammy—his big, ugly bill ripped health care away from millions, and he let ACA tax credits expire, making health care costs more than double for millions of families.
Now, we’re all paying the price.
We joined w @actiontogethernepa.bsky.social, @affordablepa.bsky.social & @pennsyltogether.bsky.social to call out Sen. McCormick & Rep. Bresnahan for their votes raising electricity bills.
A child's education shouldn't depend on their zip code.
The richest people keep getting richer, including PA's billionaire class. That includes the infamous Republican mega-donor Jeffrey Yass, Comcast CEO Brian Roberts, and David Adelman, the real estate & sports mogul at the helm of 76 Devcorp and their failed Center City Philadelphia stadium proposal.
There are many ways to fight back against proposed DHS detention facilities, and some of those are through the regulatory process. Gov. Shapiro has stated his administration plans to do everything to keep them from opening:

Life has become significantly harder for everyday people over the last 12 months. But for Trump, many Republicans in Congress, and their rich cronies, this last year has been very lucrative. @fobaction.bsky.social takes a look at who has benefited, and who has lost, so far in Trump’s second term:

On top of the inhumanity of ICE detention facilities and the violence they perpetuate, they're predicted to do significant damage to local tax bases - making the harm even more widespread.
Legislation proposed in Philadelphia “...does everything within the city’s power to restrict ICE here in Philadelphia,” Councilmember Kendra Brooks said. “it gets to 3 specific points: ICE out of the shadows, ICE out of city data and ICE out of city spaces.”

More than a quarter of the agricultural workforce gets their health insurance through the individual marketplace. After an already tough year, the loss of the enhanced subsidies that many Americans rely on to purchase health insurance is hitting farmers hard. kffhealthnews.org/news/article...
James Davis, 55, who grows cotton, soybeans, and corn in northern Louisiana, says that the cost of coverage for him and his wife quadrupled in 2026, jumping to about $2,700 a month. Congress can – and should – act to reinstate the enhanced subsidies.
"I hate shutdowns … but I can't vote for a bill that includes ICE funding under these circumstances,” Sen. Angus King, an independent from Maine who caucuses with Democrats, said on Sunday.

"We all know that strong community support is the best way to counter the political violence we’re witnessing from DHS, and by now we’ve all seen people step up to protect their neighbors and communities — not just in Minneapolis, but in cities, small towns, and rural towns across the country.”
