Dynoxide 0.9.8: fixing the orphan problem Dynoxide's npm wrapper was leaving orphaned processes when backgrounded in npm scripts. Three fixes in 0.9.8 sort it out - SIGTERM handling in Rust, async spawn with signal forwarding, and PPID polling for the backgrounded case.

If you backgrounded dynoxide in an npm script, killing the dev server left it running. 0.9.8 fixes three root causes so the process actually dies when it should.

The fun thing about doing a podcast with a pro like Lenny is that his team can slice the thing up into TikTok-style shorts after the fact, here's 48 seconds of me talking about the cognitive cost of agentic engineering

Announcing my new #opensource project - an #AWS DynamoDB compatible engine. Perfect for local dev and CI tests.

Delighted to get my Dynoxide release out... a good few hours later than I'd hoped for - frustrating battle with NPM OIDC. Turned out I basically just needed to use node 24 in my GH workflow 🫠

Dynoxide - A fast, lightweight DynamoDB emulator DynamoDB, without the baggage. A native binary backed by SQLite with sub-millisecond startup. No Docker, no JVM.

I've open sourced a DynamoDB engine in Rust, backed by SQLite. ~3 MB, 15ms startup, 526 conformance tests against real DynamoDB. No JVM, no Docker. More at dynoxide.dev

It started as infrastructure for Nubo, a native DynamoDB client we're building at Si Novi - nubo.sinovi.uk

Automating my son's YouTube with Python and FFmpeg How I built a CLI pipeline to automate my 12-year-old's Premier League predictions YouTube Shorts, from manual Keynote slides to auto-fetching fixtures, transcribing videos, encoding Shorts, and uploading to YouTube via API.

My son wanted a YouTube channel. I wanted to make sure I wasn't the bottleneck. Here's how I automated the entire weekly workflow with Python, the FPL API, Whisper, FFmpeg, and the YouTube Data API.

Basically I've automated the tedious parts so he can focus on the fun bit (being wrong about football results 😆).

Ben’s Premier League Predictions This is my Premier League predictions channel. Each week I'll analyse the fixtures and make my score predictions. I'll also do a follow-up video to see how I got on!

My son has run a Premier League predictions YouTube channel all season (youtube.com/@BensPLPredi...). Proud he's stuck with it. The weekly keynote/iMovie/upload grind was becoming my problem though.

Spent a few hours with Claude Code today to automate some of it. Writing up a blog as I speak...

We welcomed Luna into our family earlier this year. Easily one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. Such a good doggo. #dogs

Recently Played: bringing back my Last.fm component How I rebuilt my old Last.fm widget as an Eleventy WebC component with server-rendered HTML, client-side polling, and localStorage caching.

I had a Last.fm widget on my site in 2010. Fifteen years later, I brought it back as an Eleventy WebC component with SSR, live polling, and localStorage caching.

GitHub - 11ty/eleventy-img: Utility to perform build-time image transformations. Utility to perform build-time image transformations. - 11ty/eleventy-img

While upgrading to 11ty 3.0 one of the best upgrades was using the Eleventy Transform version of @11ty/eleventy-img (github.com/11ty/elevent...)

Enabling us to automatically transform all <img /> tags to use modern formats eg. webp and output various sizes - massive win 👍

We’ve refreshed our website! 🎉

It’s been great to work with @11ty.dev and WebC to create a clean, fast, and future-ready design.

Nice to have a site that better reflects us and provides a space to showcase our work.

Take a look: sinovi.uk – I’d love your feedback!

We’re really excited about Aurora DSQL - feels like a massive win for Serverless.

Here, @jamesgalley.bsky.social runs through what we’ve learnt so far from today’s announcement.

Revealed: Major Tory donor was handed public contract before general election The public has a right to know how taxpayer money is spent. So why won’t the Crown Estate answer our questions about £15,000 contract awarded to a leading Tory donor without open tender?

🔴 Ex Fujitsu UK director Simon Blagden gave £500k+ plus to Tories. He was appointed chair of a public agency on £80k PA

Then he was handed a public contract without an open tender

"Deeply problematic" says @endcorruptionuk.bsky.social

Some numbers from the past 96 hours compared to a 96 hour period a week ago:

13M likes -> 104.6M likes
1.4M follows -> 100.8M follows
1.3M reposts -> 11M reposts
26k new users -> 2.11M new users

This really drives home how insane the increase in activity around here has been
