Psychologist @cecilietraberg.bsky.social describes the power of storytelling in science communication and education. If you want people to remember scientific ideas or boost their media literacy, you can’t just present data, you need to make them feel the story behind it.

So happy my husband wanted to rewatch all the films with me, as I had also previously never seen them!
It was such a pleasure to be on the Misguided podcast talking about the hidden social forces of misinformation with @matthewfacciani.bsky.social !

🚨 AI is turning research into a scientific monoculture — and as a scientist, I worry about the long-term resilience of our research ecosystem.

In this piece for @natureportfolio.bsky.social, I reflect on having 3 children during my PhD - why I’d do it all over again, but also why academia shouldn’t make it this hard for parents to thrive.🍼🎓

I’m excited to see how this important work evolves and continues to push the boundaries of responsible AI innovation!
🤝 A huge thank you to NATO Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence and all participants for the stimulating discussions and collaborative spirit. A special thank you to Benjamin Delhomme for the kind invitation and for leading such an inspiring initiative.
🧠 As a psychologist specialising in misinformation and influence, I was grateful for the opportunity to share perspectives on how influence can occur through information - shaped by social influence, persuasion, and cognitive processes.
💻 By fostering a clear, consensus-driven understanding of what constitutes a "narrative" - and how these may influence us - it aims to empower AI systems to detect complex patterns, such as malign state influence, while avoiding reliance on opaque "black box" systems.
🔎 This innovative project is dedicated to developing a sophisticated tool for analysing and identifying narratives within the information environment.
🛡️ This week, I had the privilege of being invited by NATO Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence to participate in the first workshop for the "Computational Narrative Ontology" project in Riga.
🌟We are thrilled to announce the publication of our Special Issue: From Vulnerability to Vigilance. This issue brings together 11 impactful articles on psychological resilience against misinformation and conspiracy beliefs. advances.in/psychology/1...
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share it! It means so much to have a platform to highlight these experiences and advocate for change. 💛
Thanks so much for reading and sharing your story! I completely agree - I’m also one of the fortunate ones who had a truly supportive supervisor - but it’s by no means guaranteed.
Thank you for sharing! And I totally agree 🙏
Wow this is so impressive - and what a lovely experience for them as well 👏 Thank you so much for sharing your experience!
So happy to hear this resonates with you! It’s a reminder that these experiences aren’t unique, and it highlights how important it is to create a more supportive culture in academia- for all of us navigating parenthood and careers. Thank you for sharing this!
Combining PhD life at Cambridge with having 3 children would never have been possible without the unwavering support of my incredible supervisor, @profsanderlinden.bsky.social 🙏 I’m so grateful for the understanding and encouragement he’s shown me over these past years. Get yourself a Sander!
Thank you Philipp!
Thank you Christina and for sharing as well. I also thankfully had a very supportive supervisor, but still - very hard! 😅
