Afghan asylum-seeker dies in ICE custody, US advocacy group says Mohommad Nazeer Paktyawal is at least the 12th person to die in ICE detention this year.

He wasn't just an asylum seeker. Paktyawal was an Afghan special forces soldier who worked with the U.S. Army's 3rd Special Forces Group. He was evacuated on August 30, 2021, entered the U.S. legally and had a pending case with a work permit and social security number. Killed by ICE maggots.

Why Timberwolves’ Giannis Antetokounmpo pursuit fizzled, and the pivot to Ayo Dosunmu After exploring a potential blockbuster for Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Timberwolves instead found a way to bolster their bench.

No Giannis, no problem. Wolves pivot to Ayo Dosunmu to address a glaring need on the bench and fortify themselves for the stretch run.

it’s not necessarily that all these people in the epstein files participated in the raping of girls it’s that none of them cared and if he hadn’t been arrested and died they’d still be out there trying to be his friend

A thing people around here don't talk enough about is how, to this day, the most expensive residential real estate transaction in Franklin County, Ohio history is Epstein selling his New Albany house back to Les Wexner for $8 million in 1998. He bought it for less than half that six years prior.

Trust in the dollar? It's value has been tanking since the tariff shitshow. People in international finance subs are asking how come their US stocks are in the negative when they've gone up 10%. The dollar is pretty fucked

I said it to Mr Tremendous and I’ll say it again: unless I’ve heard wrong, this college will be representing the Big Ten in the Rose Bowl this season

No, there's 14. Ohio State, Indiana, USC, Oregon, James Madison, Akron, LSU, Boise St., McGill, Iowa, Universidad de Guadalajara, Washington University (St. Louis), Mt. Vernon State, and Loyola Marymount.

My main rooting interests are in the NL and AL Central so I can attest to this thesis

Guardians 9, Rangers 8: With Detroit losing nearly an hour earlier the Guardians had already clinched the AL Central. But winning this game like they did – with a four-run tenth inning rally capped off by a walkoff three-run homer from Brayan Rocchio – bolstered a theory of mine: that the Guardians are possessed of more Devil Magic that any team since the La Russa-era Cardinals.
They had a massive comeback here. They clinched their playoff spot on Saturday night on a walkoff hit-by-pitch. They beat Detroit with 57 dinks-and-doinks last week, with the rally being kicked off by their own dude getting hit in the damn face with a hundred mile-per-hour heater. And, of course, they came back and won the AL Central from 15.5 games down despite ending the season with a negative run differential. There is nothing natural about any of this. And they don't friggin' care, man. That's the most unsettling part.
The Cleveland Guardians can't be bargained with. They can't be reasoned with. I don't actually think that means they're World Series favorites or anything, but it does mean that we toy with them at our peril. If they eventually get knocked out of the playoffs it's probably because they just get beat, but it's also possible it will be because they accidentally ran their car over the entire opposing team and were deemed to have forfeited. And now they get the Tigers again after playing them six times in the last two weeks, winning five of those contests in no small part because Detroit seemed utterly spooked and intimidated.
It's almost cruel.
