I've had lots going on in the background for a while & now lots of very cool things are happening & I don't know how to announce or talk about any of it because I haven't mentioned any of it going on in the background lol

Anyway, there's a monsterfucker short story collection coming this Halloween?

I'm sad with Booktopia going under and the impact this could have on our book industry since they moved into publishing/distribution. But I'm pissed that I've had $300 of books on order for uni for over a month, didn't get them, and apparently don't get my money back.

If sleep deprivation and bad choices got me into this mess, sleep deprivation and bad choices are the only way out

Gentle reminder to all the protagonists out there to release the breath you don't know you're holding.

Talking about plot lines and answering/workshopping "how to plot" questions on stream? Don't mind if I do!

I don't normally track my writing, but decided that from June I would add a writing tracker to my bullet journal and it's honestly really uplifting to see that while I only had 8 writing days on my novel in June, I managed to get 24,473 words drafted. Good job me!

Exams finished and with that the trimester is done! Almost a month before classes start up again and as with every other time my brain goes from 'intense study' mode to 'fun study/writing' mode I find myself wondering: Do I actually HAVE a desk under all these books?

Oh, wouldn't that just be so lovely? For it to just materialise fully formed and ready to share? ๐Ÿ˜‚

I hope your projects are also coming along well?

It's going pretty well! I decided part way through the first draft that a different perspective would be more effective though so I had to restart which is frustrating, but ultimately the best choice.

Goodness me. I entirely forgot social media existed for a hot minute there. How awkward. But in my defence I've been doing some very cool things like studying, working on my novel, and streaming writing exercises.

How have you all been?

Dianna... If he can't find his favourite toys at night, he goes around our other cats, and then the people, chatting and chirping away (he has more vocal range than I've ever seen) like he's politely asking 'have you seen my toys? It's bed time and I need them.'

It *destroys* me. Every time.

This is Apollo. Well... it's the back of his head. He's a baby. A large baby. He's just over a year old and big due to being half Bengal. He likes toys and always takes one to bed with him, here he's using a mouse toy as a pillow as he's too big to fit in his house. He talks a lot and is very cuddly

Maybe I'm too predictable...

Friends tend to recommend books to me by listing tags/warnings, knowing I like to discover the story myself. Today I got the following:

"Book rec: regency nobility, zombies, murder. Cons: lack of queer"

This is the third time I've received that 'warning' in 2 weeks.

Bingo is going surprisingly well so far!

One of my current reads is 'Killing Floor' which I actively chose for bingo and 'Hannibal Rising' which I just finished just coincidentally fit while I made my way through the series.

Omg I've just noticed the typo in 'The Tainted Cup' and that's what I get for making graphics on no sleep and no coffee. But we can all pretend I didn't make any mistakes, can't we? Awesome ๐Ÿซฃ

My most anticipated upcoming releases for the month of February featuring: 'Fourteen Days' which is a collaborative novel by the Authors Guild featuring a number of authors including but not limited to Neil Gaiman, Celeste Ng, Diana Gabaldon, and many more - expected Feb 6th. Also expected on the 6th: 'Everyone Who Can Forgive Me Is Dead' by Johnny Hollander and 'The Tainted Cup' by Robert Jackson Bennett. I'm particularly keen for 'The Fox Wife' by Yangsze Choo which is expected on Feb 13th. Next is 'Heartless Hunter' by Kristen Ciccarelli due on the 20th, followed by 'Island Witch' by Amanda Jayatissa also on the 20th. On the 27th of February we see 'The Butcher of the Forest' by Premee Mohamed and 'Fathomfolk' by Eliza Chan which is another I can barely contain my excitement for.

It's the first of Feb! I should probably share what I'm looking forward to this month!

I am practically vibrating with the buzz of excitement for 'The Fox Wife' and 'Fathomfolk'. ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’™

Maybe a certain someone can write a gripping middle grade novel about a white upper class boy hero who bravely defends his private school from an invasion of girls and the cooties they bring. I bet it would really add to the diversity of the sphere of Australian literature.

The way I have been gleefully and maniacally cackling with schadenfreude the last few days as a former employee of Robinsons bookshop is honestly obscene but I refuse to feel shame over it.

I'm at the very tail end of 'Hannibal Rising' by Thomas Harris today and expect I'll finish it in the next hour or so. Not quite sure what I'll be onto next to be honest, I'm a bit sad to say goodbye to the series.

Thank you so much! It's my first time ever attempting something in the style and it's a style I really like. I'm very pleased with how it's turned out.

I've added meal planning and shopping lists to my weekly spread this month to trial how it goes. It leaves things a little cramped but hopefully will keep us more organised on the day to day. And stop me forgetting that eating is a thing people should do.

As we enter into February it's time to show how my bullet journal looks for the upcoming month. I've gone with an art deco inspired look. My quote for the month is from 'Hannibal Rising' by Thomas Harris. I'll be sharing my anticipated reads for Feb soon. Weekly layout ๐Ÿ‘‡

This is your gentle reminder, if you are an Australian (especially Victorian) bookworm ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ“š, you may wish to consider a different bookstore than Robinson's. Personally, when shopping instore I prefer Readings when I can get there. Or Dymocks.
