I’m that dinosaur too.. wife and myself got our house finished in 2002.total cost about €150,000 (site from Dad very privileged to have that) to build. Now worth about €550,000 to €600,000. I’m seriously worried re my daughters 22 and 16.

I think we could build on every blade of grass in ireland Jim if the econ good people are going to move here buy houses, only way to get prices down is a recession,no one wants that,people won’t be able to buy houses then we have another problem. Maybe a state building co. But prob against eu rules.

but what could a govt do to keep prices down, we just don’t have the sparks or plumbers they can charge anything, hence more expensive houses. my view the more you build more successful economy,the bigger the pull factor from abroad. We need immigrants,please don’t take it as a racist trope.
