Aces Night... Shatterstrike! Pushing the offense on the Façons!
One thing I noticed after starting is that the person who did that STL file for the Project Phoenix Shadowhawk basically retained the original's pose. Don't know if intentional, but if it was, nice
Still I decided 'hey let's try and Phoenix-up some of my Mechs'. I looked for STLs of Project Phoenix Mechs and started printing them. I'm starting with the Shadowhawk, a sentimental favorite of mine. Going for a similar paintjob that I used for the Catalyst Games one. WIP.
To retain the Mechs despite the 'unseen' status (thanks a bunch Harmony Gold). This has since become a non-issue, especially with Catalyst tweaking the original designs yet keeping them distinct enough to use while still being recognizable.
Going back over 2 decades (yikes that's a long time ago) Battletech did "Project Phoenix", a visual redesign of a lot of classic Mechs. While they're mostly 'hit or miss' (some I loved, like the Rifleman or Phoenix Hawk, some I hated like the Warhammer or Marauder) they were necessary at the time...
and yes, Forced Vacation. Couldn't weasel my way out of it this time. Week off now, then back to work, then another week off.

Aw crap I just learned that Angine de Poitrine will perform 3 days this week... which I happen to have off ("forced" vacation)... AND within a 20 min drive of where I live. BUT all 3 shows are sold out. Bah.

With both Star Rail AND Zenless Zone Zero updated this week, I need to be double careful to dodge spoilers. It's bad enough that I know the endboss of the Star Rail Update (really wish they'd wait one month before putting that boss for Anomaly Arbitration), but now I need to practically avoid YT

Leopard Dropship paintjob complete! Also changed the magnetic plates inside so the magnets on the minis will stick better

So today my assistant just got put on medical leave and can't come in for the rest of the month, meaning I HAVE to go to work.

I've been getting some pressure from above to take my 2 remaining weeks off (a problem that has been something I've been guilty of as I always forget to take vacation time). I FINALLY give in and start laying the groundwork to take a week next week and one in 3 weeks...

Running my 2nd Playthrough of Aces Burning Sands, but this time in not calling the shots! The chosen Sortie by the other players: Coming In Hot! Preemptive Strike, let's Go!
Finished printing and assembling the Dropship, and with my modifications it CAN carry all minis plus have a seperate compartment in the back with foam insert for the metal mini. Won't be fully painted for tonight's session BUT I'll still use it to carry the minis
The ONLY issue is the Longbow. As I said in my previous thread, it's a metal mini and this VERY heavy compared to the plastics and the 3d printed Resin. I'll probably hollow the back part of the main body to carry it seperate from the others
Resized the front part of the body 10%, again hollowed it and split it to make a lid, and added magnets... SUCCESS! All 12 minis fit, and the bottom is lined in magnetic sheeting so I can magnetize the minis for storage. All that's left is printing the rest (aft section, wings, landing gear and gun)
So overnight I tried printing the Dropship I mentioned yesterday hollowed out, and while it is wide and deep enough to hold the 12 minis I want it to, it's not HIGH enough (missing maybe a couple CMs. I'll try and rescale it just a tad this evening to see the result
Though I just realized my Longbow is a METAL mini, and significantly heavier than the others. So I'd need to secure it in a different way (will probably use magnets for the others) otherwise it would move around inside the case and likely damage the other minis (especially the 3d printed ones)
... Not that any of the Aces scenarios uses a Dropship as terrain. Buuuuuut if I can get my buddies to develop a Battletech Itch and we start doing games outside of the scenario pack, weeeellllll.... (Evil grin)
Technically in Canon a Leopard can only carry 4 Mechs, but if just used as terrain it should be able to carry up to 12. Which would be the exact number I'd need to carry our Aces unit (I can carry the Falcon units using the Aces box as it has inserts specifically designed for those)
MMM. During my break I looked at MMF and found a free Leopard Dropship, Mech Scaled. Looking at the comments someone thought "hey that thing can be modified to have a magnet lid to carry a BT Army". When I get home tonight I'll download it to see if I can do it

An Army carrying case for Battletech (say that can hold like 12 minis) BUT that looks like a Dropship, sized to also act as terrain

D) all minis are official plastic, my OLD Ral Partha metal Longbow, and the 4 minis that are 3d printed are either because there are no minis for them (Stalking Spider II and Arbalest), or I couldn't find my old metal minis of the figures (Trebuchet and Hatchetman)
...switch configs. b) I'm using my Gothic Firestarter so we could have two of them on the table. C) I couldn't find any suitable recon hover infantry STLs anywhere so I grabbed an old hoverbike infantry from Mechwarrior Dark Age and put it on a hex base (so the scale is off on that one)...
