It’s taken me ages to figure that one out! Most of the film from the initial meeting in the cafe in London is the book. You return to the cafe at the end and you’re back in reality where Mary really is just the secretary of the publisher and Vinnie P is just a waiter Ken incorporated into his story.

I’ve not seen Dark Shadows unless you mean the Tim Burton silliness and there’s clues throughout that the son was behind/ in league with pops in pulling off the ending (I’m trying to stay spoiler free here). There’s the phone box scene where he says he’s at the office for instance.

Definitely dribbled back down the Brit Horror hole, but why not? No ridiculous colour grading and actors speaking dialogue you can hear without switching the subtitles on and squinting at the screen.🤷‍♂️

Watching “The Corpse” (1971) and there’s a scene where a mother and daughter drive past Betchworth Quarry in Surrey - a place I instantly recognised from the Amicus film “Scream And Scream Again” (1970)where a pivotal scene shot at the quarry that makes it instantly recognisable!
