quakeforge has some slightly updated tools about it but they're only slightly updated for taking pcx instead of lbm. you still run into the eternal palette order issue

i mentioned q2 gpl's pcx issue. q1 has a spr, lmp and looping wav issue. sox can't make the cooledit cue bits q1 needs to loop with. nothing outs a q spr, lmp through a CLI.

OTOH q3 has no issue with cli-made md3s/bsps/tgas/jpgs/aases/ases/wavs/roqs. one can do a whole reproducible idt3 game
