Pat McFadden is so good. He is the ultimate cool-head. A volcano could erupt and he'd be calm about it. An excellent skill to have. You need somebody like him in the cabinet, even if it is just to bat away hysterical questioning from the media.

Now Keir Starmer has answered his question.
Let’s turn to Nigel Farage
1. Who paid for your house?
2. Why did you say the same as Nathan Gill who is in prison for taking bribes?
3. Have you paid for that Street’s energy Bills?
4. Has Dickie Tice paid his tax bill yet?
Imagine the lolly Starmer could trouser in a post-PM life a la Johnson and Blair. He's a PM hewn from the same granite as Gordon Brown, and doing this for all the right reasons. The Labour Party should protect and covet him at all costs.
Lies Industry UK - Darren Jones: An inquiry is underway into the leaking of confidential information to The Guardian. Tom Whitehead, FCDO Deputy Director of Communications, is the husband of The Guardian political editor Crerar.
Amid the noise of ex civil servants closing ranks on the Mandelson vetting saga, I haven’t heard a single one acknowledge that to fail to tell the PM or any other Minister Mandelson had failed vetting was completely unacceptable & put the PM & other ministers in an impossible position.
Poor old Olly, seemingly not that keen on pressure - you would have thought that his time as Chief Brexit Negotiator might have toughened him up a little and that a salary of over £200,000 pa would have helped to mitigate his level of distress!

There is no obvious heir apparent to Keir Starmer.
It may not be the best reason he remains in post.
But it is the reason he will remain in post.
I for one am delighted.
Who could have guessed that decapitating Iran's existing leaders would create uncertainty about who on their side is actually empowered to negotiate?
Everyone.
Everyone could have guessed that.
I did not ask for this gift of prophecy, and in this case I did not need it.
Front page of the i, Wounded Starmer given a public dressing down by his cabinet. When and where did this spectacle take place, were tickets sold, did Starmer have to stand on the naughty step whilst they all yelled at him, the mind boggles. Or is it just more tittle tattle from sources.
Nigel Farage earns over a million pounds a year.
Still claims £160,900 in expenses (benefits)
Moans about people abusing benefits.
But not himself, of course.
Labour Gov announces plans to cut energy price link with gas price, bringing down domestic energy prices. Really important news for the cost of living. Tonight it got 30 seconds, 22 minutes into the BBC 10pm news bulletin.

America seems to have lost its mind.
Not a good look.
Chris Mason "this issue just keeps going on - this is the 7th day in a row we're talking about it". Mason has no other purpose apart from reporting Westminster gossip like an over excited schoolboy. #r4today
The right gambled, tried to rig the election, lost, and now it’s excuses and tears.
Thanks for everything, Virginia. 🙏🏽
But according to @zackpolanski.bsky.social and he’s merry band of greens “Labour are not doing enough and are in the pocket of climate destroyers…”
Reality couldn’t be any different
I got extremely irritated by large accounts on here with lots of followers saying Starmer wasn't up to the job of PM yesterday, then declining to suggest ANY alternative yesterday
Clicks trump commitment to democracy - clearly
If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem
Farage will deal with the racists, misogynists and homophobes in his ‘party’, he’ll promote them to his cabinet.

Starting a mid-decade redistricting war only to end up with -1 seats is the same fine strategic genius and subtle grasp of game theory that brough us the Strait of Hormuz.
The media’s hounding of the most productive PM in the last 15 years is a national disgrace.
This government has already delivered 20 manifesto pledges, 41 more are on course for completion before end of Parliament. Here’s a few that are well on the way to being delivered
With #Reform (unfortunately) ahead in the polls, imagine thinking that it's #Starmer & #Labour who are a threat to the civil service! If #Farage gets in, it'll be devastation when he replaces hard working professionals with his own unqualified cronies!

Media thoroughly disappointed this morning. As Starmer wakes up and gets ready for another day in Office.
PMQs to prepare for. An Opposition Leader to be verbally crucified again.
More discussions on Straits of Hormuz. An economy to keep working. Ordinary people to look after
News from the US:
Trump and the Republicans started a congressional redistricting war.
Usually, most states redistrict once a decade. But Trump encouraged red states to do a mid-decade redistricting.
The hope was that more gerrymandering would see a net gain in seats in the House of Reps...

Absolutely 💯 this👇
The underlying structural problems of UK politics that the country doesn't have the resources to do everything expected of it and a Westminster class in denial about this doesn't go away in the event of a new PM.
Agree - this has been so long awaited and then to be glossed over felt like “have I missed something here?”
Pippa Crerar had two choices as I see it
1. Let the Gov know there had been an Official Secrets Act breach
2. Write an unverified story to bring down a PM.
I’m glad the Gov are investigating the leak.
