A messy mass of miner's lettuce fills the frame. The rounded spoon shaped leaves are pretty much hidden by the abundant painters palette shaped, green and fleshy bracts showcasing a cluster of about 5 or so tiny white flowers and flower buds at the center. The flowers are star shaped with 5 petals. This plant is edible as a salad green. If you forage, you should pick it as far off trail as possible.
What is this? A fine salad green!
Miner's lettuce (Claytonia perfoliata) is really going to town! It is very tasty when freshly picked.
